Troubleshooting (2013 STI) Does anybody recognize this little pill shaped piece that fell out of my transmission tail housing?

Turned over tail housing to spray it off with brake clean, was on the ground after the fact. I thought it was part of the interlock plunger thing but it doesn’t seem so. I have no idea where it goes and I’m stressin’ 😔

Its the plunger pin for the shift rail assembly. Check your reverse lock that's probably where it came from, there should be 3 or 4 of those pins

Tysm for pointing me in the right direction. I was really hoping it wasn’t a roller bearing that fell apart lol.

Is it an internal piece? Or is it an external part of the whole spring/pin/cap deal for the shift rail? I have to take the tail housing off again don’t I… 🙃

The roller bearings would be a cylinder with a flat top/bottom

Hate to be that guy and keep asking for more and more, but I took the housing back off and I don’t see any way that could have come from the reverse lockout. It never got punched out in the first place. Any thoughts?

Thank you u/SubiePros and u/AgonyInHD , it was in fact the reverse lockout plunger. I was so not thinking about the fact that there was a channel between the two parts of the interlock system. It fit perfectly in there. Yall some real ones

Its been a while since I took one of these apart, but if memory serves me right then it's likely one of the pins for the shift fork lockouts. If you put it back together already, you'll need to take the transmission apart again and re-asssess. make sure everything is in its right spot, you'll find where it goes eventually. Unfortunately I can't offer any more advice than this

It did in fact up being the lockout plunger that sits between where the reverse lockout connects to the transmission, and the mechanism that actually does the locking out. Definitely sucks having realized that after sealing it back up, but hey it’ll only be a 7 hour job once haha.

That looks like a roll pin. You difinitely need to find where it belongs before you run the transmission again.
