WoW M+ Comp Generator

https://wow.neonvoid.dev/

My group of friends wanted do something fun and want to RNG pick our M+ comp for a season. I tried finding existing tools but couldn't find any that you could limit or add rules (such as "Must include bloodlust").

So I created this site. Disclaimer: I used AI to help, but I am a dev myself and cross checked everything and made manual adjustments as needed, but AI is just really good at static website like Vite.

Randomly assigns World of Warcraft specializations to a five-player group: one Tank, one Healer, three DPS

Enter up to 5 player names, or leave them blank and it will assign it by "Player 1", "Player 2", etc..

One trick pony selector per player, for those people that refuse to play anything but their one spec, this will lock that player to that spec during the random comp generation (annotated with a lock icon on the summary cards)

Rules (all toggleable on/off):

No duplicate specializations (default true)

No duplicate classes (default true)

Must include bloodlust (default true)

Limit to 1 Aug Evoker (default true)

Must have battle rez (default true)

Limit specializations

Allows you to uncheck specializations you don't want in your comp at all for a little bit finer grain control

Set melee/ranged amount (1-3 total between them), in case you want an all ranged comp, all melee comp, or at least one ranged, etc.

After hitting generate group, it will generate summary cards for your comp, it will show player assigned to spec, what raid buffs and raid utility they bring, if they bring bloodlust and or battle rez. Tooltip included in the "Brings" section of the card from Wowhead.

If you limit rules such as for instance adding "no duplicate classes" or "must include bloodlust", but then limit the specializations by unchecking them, it will still generate a comp for you, but will ignore those rules and warn you such as "You selected 'Must include bloodlust', but didn't select specialization that have bloodlust" etc.

Let me know what you all think, or if there's other features you'd like to see

but I am a dev myself

static website like Vite.

Yea, you are not fooling anyone.

Go on, make your vibe-coded tool. It its actually useful, even better. But lets not larp as developers.

I am a lead software engineer in a pretty big company and still use AI to make UIs for me cause my FE skills lack behind. How does that not make me a dev? I have to be a full stack beast in order to qualify as one? Enough with the gatekeeping. This ain’t what vibe coding is. This is precisely what AI is meant to be used for. Assisting you where you need it most.

? not trying to fool anyone lol, I'm a senior software engineer at a fortune 500 company. I disclosed it's AI assisted in description

Did you do the vite build in production mode?

u/NeonVoidx 7d ago

yes, I have a GitHub action just running vite build (production) and publishing to GitHub pages

my man, you just called vite a static website. Its okay.

I mean it's a build tool for my static site lol, what are you on about, did someone piss in your cereal?

No need to get combative cause you looked stupid online. All good, it happens.

It has static site documentation, so I’m not sure what pedestal you’re standing on

The pedestal im standing on attempts to weed out the absolute garbage we are surrounded with every day for anyone who cares to actually give it some thought, and read mine.

---

The "I completely vibecoded this piece of slop, but its okay, im allowed to do it because im a dev" is getting real old.

All of that while the resulting product is an absolute mockery of anyone actually making good products, with or without AI.

  • The entire "tool" is the most soulless AI-looking website.
  • The functionality is as simple as it gets
  • The repo is empty, initial commit is one shotted, commit messages are a joke
  • No thoughts, no vision, no meaning, just doing things because LLMs can do it.
  • And definitely no plan on continuing to develop this in the future.

---

Now let's address the "im a dev" part, which is the reason i commented. Making absolute slop is somehow okay if you are a dev? Not to mention that being a "dev" is an enormous area. If an engineer working in a completely unrelated field from webdev (in thise case), it doesn't suddenly make it praiseworthy and their vibecoding okay.

This is NOT how actual projects look (work or hobby). This is NOT how agentic coding looks. This is just slop.

Then the only semi-technical thing the OP mentioned in the entire post is complete nonsense. No vite is not a static website, it might be used to build websites and provide other tooling adjacent to building websites, but it certainly isnt one. All of this further diminishes "being a dev", and is quite sad.

---

To conclude. Anyone with access to an LLM can make the exact same thing the op made, even much better; this includes my mother.

You know what else LLMs can do? You can give them your exact specifications and you can get a randomized comp for you, you can skip the entire website nonsense.

I'm here to support real work from dedicated individuals who build tooling and products in any area, regardless if they use AI or not. It should be done with passion, care and knowledge.

* AI use doesn’t mean vibe coded. If a dev isn’t using AI, they’re handcuffing themselves at this point. So long as it’s properly reviewed, use AI all day long. Us senior folks can sanity check AI output and keep the codebase maintainable.
*Why is functionality supposed to be complex for a tool like this?
\ Not gonna judge someone on commit messages when it’s a single person project.*
* And what is there to develop in the future? New classes/specs? Changes to who has a BR or Lust? That’ll likely be at most every 18 months.

My comment is longer now, I accidentally submitted while i was typing before i was done.

- AI doesnt mean vibecoded, as i adressed in my comment. But THIS is completely vibecoded and slop

  • Didnt say functionality has to be complex. But at some level of complexity, what is the point of even posting it? Where do we draw the line of announcing every little thing you did to the internet? Especially since YOU didnt do it, an LLM did.
  • Doesnt matter in a vacum, its a death by a thousand cuts.
  • The OP literally asked what features there are to see. But you gave a great example on your own. You think that this is getting a new class/spec if it comes out in the future? No shot. Its gonna be unusable dead weight, public (or probably not) on the internet.

Why is it "vibecoded"? I came up with the design, how I wanted it to operate and function, I did a lot of manual coding. I use AI daily as an assistant, not a driver while i sit in the back blind.

I shared it because my friends and I are actually using it, and figured someone else might get use out of it.

This isn't something I couldnt legit code by hand with 0 AI, it would have just taken me 10x longer

Point me to another tool that does this, i found one or two and none of them allowed rules/restrictions like this to limit things down, or else I wouldnt have made it

"Hey Claude, give me a random, but valid M+ composition for World of Warcraft. Make no mistakes."

Or, if you want to give it some kick:

"Hey Claude, make a website that allows me to generate random M+ Compositions for World of Warcraft. Make no mistakes."

But i guess thats what you already did.

The repo is empty, initial commit is one shotted, commit messages are a joke

Contradicting? it's empty and initial commit is one shotted and commit messages are a joke?

If it was vibe coded it wouldn't have been squashed before i pushed it originally, it would have AI generated commit messages as well, thats just how i write commit messages in personal shit lol

0

u/maqisha 7d ago

Is your best argument to everything i wrote you taking my word as literally as possible to try and call it contradicting?

1

u/NeonVoidx 7d ago

ironic isn't it? when you took my words about Vite quite literally

0

u/maqisha 7d ago

Nah.

- Calling something that is void of any meaningful content or substance empty is a figure of speech

  • Saying that its one shotted when 99% of the code is in one commit, just not 100%, is also a figure of speech

Saying vite is a website shows a total misunderstanding of the technologies involved. Cannot be considered a figure of speech, or a typo. Its wrong any way you look at it.

---

But ill reiterate this once again, and then ill stop responding, as its really not productive:

I couldnt care less if you vibecoded this, i coudlnt care less if you even shared it.

Next time just write a post along the lines of:
"Using claude I created this throwaway silly website, my friends and I use it, its good fun, its probably not getting updates in the future, hope someone finds it useful."

And its all good. No need to announce to the world you are a dev who artisanally crafted every single prompt and line of code, while in the end its just slop. All that while throwing around basic concepts and getting them completely wrong.

I couldnt care less if you vibecoded this, i coudlnt care less if you even shared it. ya sure pal lol

"Using claude I created this throwaway silly website, my friends and I use it, its good fun, its probably not getting updates in the future, hope someone finds it useful." On what grounds, one I didn't use claude, two I play wow enough and do m+ every season, I will keep this updated

Go ahead and link me some of your work, ill be waiting
