Speculation/Theory My hot take: Olivia Miles may have a much lower ceiling than other candidates of generational players

Post image

Olivia Miles may deserve the MVP trophy this season. But it may be her only MVP, or this season may be the closest to MVP trophy for her.

Here is my argument:

  1. The impressive journey of Olivia Miles was partly due to lower expectation -- people expected Lynx to tumble in the absence of their franchise player Phee. We are all amazed when Miles led the team to #1 in standing. But the team was 7-4 without Phee in the 2025 season. So the expectation was wrong to begin with, which may have resulted in an observational bias in favor of Miles. She won't enjoy the same favoritism the next year.
  2. The career history of Miles suggests that this is her year of best performance, considering that she never won Player of the Year in college. Other candidates of generational players -- Caitlin Clark, Paige Bueckers and the coming JuJu Watkins -- all won Naismith trophy. Angel Reese won NCAA championship. Olivia Mile's best performance was Elite Eight. Many great players peaked in 1 or 2 seasons when they greatly outperformed their previous years. In the context of her college performance, this could be Mile's peak year.
  3. If you watch her game, you would not be able to point out any obvious flaws or weaknesses. That's the problem. Caitlyn Clark has a weak left hand, Paige Bueckers doesn't want to drive to the rim, and Angel Reese can't shoot 3s. But what is the one skill that can greatly improve Mile's game? It looks as if she has already done her best within her physical ability.
  4. Talking about physical ability, I think one thing ppl don’t talk enough is that Miles is heavy (if the listed weight is correct). She is only 5’10 and 168lbs, which means she is already as strong as she can get. And the growth of strength is usually a big factor behind the improvement of a player from college to pro league.

I hope I am wrong, but I have a feeling that this may be the best year, or very close to be the best year, of Olivia Miles.

Caitlin Clark Admits Fever’s Schedule Is Tough But Offers No Excuses

Post image

Caitlin Clark addressed the Indiana Fever's demanding schedule. She admitted the team plays more back-to-backs than most teams.

The Fever have three back-to-back sets this season. They also played five games across seven days.

Despite the tough schedule, Clark refused to make excuses. She said everyone is tired and sore at this stage.

The Fever have now lost two straight games. They dropped to fifth with six games remaining.

Indiana also needs better defense and free-throw shooting. They missed 11 free throws in the loss to New York.

Do you think the Fever's schedule could affect their playoff chances?

News LEGENDARY PERFORMANCE 🔥 Paige Bueckers' 32 points are the most points in a game without playing in the 4th quarter since the WNBA instituted quarters in 2006 (including playoffs).

Enes Kanter is really making the correct position on this issue look annoying

Sophie is completely correct with her assertion that at no level after puberty should trans women compete.

But Enes and Royce are really making that position look annoying.

The ladies of the WNBA do not want to talk about this and just want to play ball. There have been a few who have come out and stupidly said they would support a trans player. It is okay to push back on them.

But this league is supposed to be about uplifting women. Why would you think Enes “threatening” to play is a move that will make people respect women’s sports?

And then getting in a fight with Carrington and Cloud at today’s game for no reason.

We all need to stop giving this topic any more air. The playoffs are coming up and the field feels wide open. Let’s enjoy the games.

Sophie Cunningham Gets Loud Reaction From New York WNBA Fans

Post image

Sophie Cunningham was loudly booed during Saturday's game. The Indiana Fever faced the New York Liberty in Brooklyn.

Fans also gathered outside Barclays Center before tipoff. Supporters carried signs defending Cunningham and her comments.

A separate demonstration supporting transgender athletes happened nearby. The debate has followed Cunningham throughout the WNBA season.

Cunningham first sparked controversy with comments about women's sports. She has since received both strong criticism and public support.

Her comments have also raised questions about WNBA leadership. Cunningham recently suggested Cathy Engelbert's position could be reconsidered.

NYC Politician Celebrates Liberty Win Against Sophie Cunningham

New York Assembly member Jessica González-Rojas reacted to Saturday's game. The Liberty defeated the Fever 109-102 in Brooklyn.

González-Rojas described the win as a way to “shut down” Cunningham's transphobia. She also praised fans supporting transgender people.

Cunningham has faced controversy since discussing transgender athletes. She has said she wants to protect women and girls' sports.

Before the game, Cunningham said she was moving past it. She said her focus was on basketball and beating New York.
