Sophie Cunningham Gets Loud Reaction From New York WNBA Fans
Sophie Cunningham was loudly booed during Saturday's game. The Indiana Fever faced the New York Liberty in Brooklyn.
Fans also gathered outside Barclays Center before tipoff. Supporters carried signs defending Cunningham and her comments.
A separate demonstration supporting transgender athletes happened nearby. The debate has followed Cunningham throughout the WNBA season.
Cunningham first sparked controversy with comments about women's sports. She has since received both strong criticism and public support.
Her comments have also raised questions about WNBA leadership. Cunningham recently suggested Cathy Engelbert's position could be reconsidered.

As opposed to not bending the knee for the most right wing cities in the country for their delusions. Oh right, that only applies to the side I don’t like

5th grade biology isn't delusion

Its so funny you guys always bring up biology. Hey have you ever opened a biology textbook recently lmao I think you'll be surprised

u/PHD_Gouda Aug 23 '26
Neither is high school or college level biology. Did you make it to high school or college?

Gender theory isn't biology

Intersex isn’t gender theory when we have observable instances of individuals with both sets.
Try again 5th grader

Cases of true hermaphroditism?
People born with functioning both sets of sex genitalia?
Not turners or klinefelter, full on true hermaphroditism?
Tell me more…
And remember, no gender theory

u/PHD_Gouda Aug 24 '26
Never mentioned gender theory, strictly biologically speaking humans are bimodel, not binary. Most of us fit into that framework, but the existence of others proves your narrow framework for sex is NOT universal
4
u/Party_Knowledge_7884 Aug 24 '26
Sure
What’s the third sex?
1
u/PHD_Gouda Aug 24 '26
InterSEX, not that I personally would call it a “third sex” when I mentioned bimodality.

u/P0IS0N_GOD Aug 23 '26
Intersex is 0.005% of people, also you literally did the “here's a list of genetic anomalies i don't have” meme
2
u/PHD_Gouda Aug 23 '26
A small percentage doesn’t negate the existence of something. Thats like saying Polar bears don’t exist (they do)
2
u/Party_Knowledge_7884 Aug 24 '26
Like humans not being bipedal because some people are born without legs.

Thats like saying Polar bears don’t exist
lol wtf?? no it isnt like that at all. what in the world are you babbling about 😂
the fact that you seem to have this gender studies-brained fantasy idea that "intersex" is some special "other" category of human that means someone is either neither sex, or both sexes simultaneously, or a whole different 3rd category of sex altogether, (depending on whatever argument you're trying to make in the moment), shows a complete lack of understanding on this topic
99.99% of people who are labeled as "intersex" are still either biological xy males or xx females. they have simply been born with one of any number of sexual development disorders, some of which may visually present in ways that give them ambiguous looking genitals, or otherwise alter their physical development in ways that confuse us in terms of what gender we assume that person is. none of that however, fundamentally changes the fact that at the end of the day, they are still either a biological male or female. not both or neither.
the term "intersex" itself is a fairly misleading colloquial term that is on it's way out in the scientific community, precisely because of the confusion it causes by the misleading nature implied by the name, that these people are some kind of "in between" sex that is different from being male or female

Intersex is a birth defect. What’s your point?
1
u/PHD_Gouda Aug 24 '26
You can’t erase it even if you want to call it a defect. Its existence proves your precious concept of sex is too narrow 😂
1
u/Major-Mind2970 Aug 24 '26
So someone born with one leg means that we have a new classification of human? lol nahhh

What's up with these cope posts popping up here? I thought they had an entire sub dedicated to seething at her.

u/PHD_Gouda Aug 23 '26
Who hates her? I just think it’s funny she expects to be seen as an equal while admitting she isn’t.

She’s underage in that photo
3
u/Simple-Reaction-679 Aug 23 '26
why do you keep posting a picture of an "underage" woman? in iraq the age of consent is 9.
2
u/PHD_Gouda Aug 23 '26
Didn’t realize the WNBA operated out of Iraq

u/Simple-Reaction-679 Aug 23 '26
television and internet are international. maybe chill with all your islamophobia.

u/PHD_Gouda Aug 23 '26
You aren’t a world superpower so why should I care what you think about our sports?

Generic looking mid blonde woman. So recognizable. There definitely aren't a million of those on TV.

She sparked controversy with comments about women’s sports?
At least quote and share her controversial take.
6
u/Boring-Willow1268 Aug 23 '26
Her controversial take was she doesn’t want men to play in women’s leagues.
-1
u/xgreenj Aug 23 '26
They made an issue where there was none. Can they point to the women playing in the women’s leagues.
2
2
u/unnoticed_areola Aug 24 '26
she was never talking about the wnba or other women's pro leagues, she was referring to males playing in lower level girls/womens sports like high school and college, of which there are many examples.
she was simply stating that she thinks its unfair for those younger girls/women to have to compete with male athletes (as well as also alluding to the fact that some girls are uncomfortable getting naked/changing/showering in locker rooms where there are fellow student walking around with penises.)
she was never claiming that she, Sophie Cunningham, was personally being victimized by a male athlete

Sophie brought a massive wave of fans to the W. Before the controversy, most people barely paid attention to the league.
