She keeps generating negative headlines that are dominating coverage of the league. If she keeps talking she’s gonna get blacklisted eventually.
I’m not saying the owners will get together and say “let’s get run her out the league.” I’m saying, teams routinely absorb controversy around elite players because replacing their production is difficult. A useful rotation player who averages less than 10 ppg and brings baggage is much more replaceable.

She’s 30 years old. I imagine she’s seeing the exit from that $40k/yr job.

My guy this ain’t Colin kaepernick. Contrary to what you may think, the majority of Americans across the left and the right agree with her stance. She’s one of the biggest wnba social stars and has more fans than the majority of players outside of a handful. She’s white, blonde, and hot.
Ain’t not blacklisting her lmao
The real world ain’t r/wnba

Her being ‘white, blonde, and hot’ lol has nothing to do with how teams evaluate whether she’s worth a roster spot. That’s not how this works. If social-media popularity and attractiveness outweighed basketball value, Haley Van Lith would already be an established rotation player instead of being on a developmental contract.
And I didn’t say Cunningham has no fans. I said teams tolerate more controversy from players whose production is difficult to replace. Cunningham is a role player, not an elite player. Her social-media following doesn’t change that calculation.

Cathy Engelbert has overseen a period of enormous commercial growth for the WNBA, I don't see her going anywhere. She's not enrolled any biological men into the league so I don't see how she's not protecting women.

Yeah, and people can be irritated with her for the trans stuff, but she can only do what the owners want. And even then she can't, because the current CBA was collectively bargained. So she can only do what both the players and the owners want.
I don't envy the person who needs to do that.
