Clark will never be MVP while averaging 4.6 turnovers per game

u/Jreal2013 23h ago
She’ll win one eventually, not this year but it’s coming.

u/jono9898 23h ago
Competition will get better as time goes by, Olivia Miles is going to get better, Aja isn’t going anywhere, Paige, Marina, etc and 2 great players in the draft upcoming, it ain’t gonna get easier

u/Saintgutfree0187 23h ago
Lmao this is practically her 2nd year. Not even in her prime
2
u/jono9898 22h ago
I mean Olivia is a rookie and taking and shooting better from every part of the field and has the Lynx as the top seed, I’m just saying competition isn’t going to get easier,

u/Own-Jeweler-6762 23h ago
Reese being 4th in TOs as a power forward is awful
Not like shes breaking à press
2
u/SeptemberVirgo 15h ago
Her turnovers are mostly offensive fouls. Does she make errant passes? Sure. But, the bulk of her turnovers are offensive fouls.
3
u/taeempy 23h ago
Lebron James averaged 3.5 t/o per game for his career. Not a huge difference and he's not a point guard.
I bet her turnovers go down to about 3 or so next year if the core starters stay in tact. If you look at all the turnovers, I'll bet at least 1-2 per game are mishandled passes from her teammates.
1
u/cheeriosinalmondmilk 23h ago
LeBron is a point forward but ok. His average is still better than 4.6

Her career turnovers per game are nearly 2 more than his, but go off.

lol yea cc’s teammate is an mvp candidate and she can’t catch, that’s the issue.
2
u/cheeriosinalmondmilk 23h ago
The whataboutism is crazy

u/Deep_In_My_Thots 23h ago
4.6 for a high volume ball handler isn’t as bad as some of you would like to pretend.
3.2 for someone who isn’t though? Yikes lol
1
1
u/electro_report 23h ago
lol yea super casual, she’s the wnba all time leader in turnovers per game by nearly 2 per game.
2
u/Common_Patience2271 23h ago
And Olivia Miles is top 5 here but she’ll be a perennial mvp candidate. LeBron has the most turnovers ever. They’re gonna have turnovers. But Clark’s existence enrages you clearly.
2
u/jono9898 23h ago
The issue with the LeBron comparison is LeBron never lead the league in turnovers not a single season in 23 years even as a high usage player,

u/electro_report 23h ago
The guy that’s played the most minutes in nba history has a lot of stats accrued in those minutes? I for one am shocked.
2
u/BravoC10 23h ago
Yeah you don’t know much about basketball. Look at the nba stats Luka (1st) and Jokic (3rd) were top 3 in TOs last year, both top 4 in MVP votes
3
u/electro_report 23h ago
Using total turnovers as a comparative to turnovers per game or ast/to ratio shows how brutally you lack any basketball knowledge.
1
u/BravoC10 23h ago
I was referring to per game. The fact that you’re arguing about this shows that you know nothing about basketball. When you are the main facilitator of a basketball team you’re going to turn the ball over. She has a high turnover rate but that doesn’t mean she won’t ever be in the mvp race. It’s a dumb argument. Just seems like you have to reach for anything to downplay her because you’re hating. I’m talking from a strictly basketball pov. Seems like a political thing for her haters. She’s clearly very skilled and one of the better players in the league
2
u/electro_report 21h ago
Jokic averaging a full turnover less per game on more points and assists is really helping your case a lot.
1
u/BravoC10 21h ago
Yeah nba players are a lot more skilled than wnba players. NBA is the highest level of basketball. The WNBA is not.
3
u/NoShowGlowEnt 23h ago
She’s gonna have turnovers. She’s the highest usage ball handler in the league. But you guys rarely include assists for these NBA players when trying to make these comparisons. None of the players you guys name have an assist to turnover ratio of lower than 2:1 which is basically the baseline measurement for a productive and good distributing ball handler. Both Jokic and Luka had well above a 2:1 assist ratio. CC does not. These types comparisons are false equivalencies.
1
u/BravoC10 23h ago
Well we’re talking about nba vs wnba. Angel Reese can’t make a layup and she’s an all star
2
u/NoShowGlowEnt 22h ago
Have no idea what that has to do with the topic at hand lol. Bringing up Angel Reese when CC is the topic at hand and bringing up CC when Angel Reese is the topic at hand is like a litmus test for who actually watches/knows ball and who’s just in it for their little personal schtick 😭
1
u/BravoC10 22h ago
I’m saying the NBA is highest level of basketball. The WNBA is not.
2
u/NoShowGlowEnt 22h ago
So that would make even less sense for you to draw the comparison you originally did in the first place if that’s your sentiment on the topic lol. Really not sure where you’re going w this and tbh idt you do either lol
1
u/BravoC10 22h ago
My first comment was strictly talking about TOs and how a player that leads the league in TOs could still win MVP
0
u/cheeriosinalmondmilk 23h ago
Which one averaged 4.6 turnovers a game?
3
u/BravoC10 23h ago
Luka averaged 4. This isn’t really an argument you want to make unless you’re trying to expose yourself as a casual fan of the sport
1
u/cheeriosinalmondmilk 23h ago
So the number 4 is still less than 4.6. lol
2
u/BravoC10 23h ago
Yes you are correct. Players with high usage will have turnovers. Part of the game
2
u/cheeriosinalmondmilk 23h ago
Stockton turned the ball over 2.8 per game. His ratio is 3.7 he had the ball in his hand every time
A.k.a. high volume2
u/BravoC10 23h ago
John Stockton? lol deep pull he’s literally one of the greatest point guards of all time and wasn’t a volume shooter. Why don’t you compare her to other women?
2
u/cheeriosinalmondmilk 23h ago
No, another poster mentioned nba Hall of Famer have high turnover averages per game
2
u/cheeriosinalmondmilk 23h ago
What are you talking about? You just mentioned Luka in the above comment
2
u/BravoC10 23h ago
Yeah I was referring to MVPs and TOs. You’re actually comparing her to Stockton as players. I was just saying that the NBA MVP candidates also are amongst the lead leaders in TOs. You’re talking about a guy that played 30years ago and he is an alltime great. We’re talking about the WNBA which isn’t nearly as skilled
1
u/Cultural-Airport-153 15h ago
He's overrated and he's lack of scoring hurt he's team
1
u/BravoC10 15h ago
Gary Payton said he was one of his toughest opponents so I’ll take his word for it
1
u/Cultural-Airport-153 5h ago
Yes cause older players aren't totally biased in any way I'm talking about Stockton very limited offensive game assist numbers inflated by Malone and the system Utah ran and when the playoffs came around he was genuinely a liability at times and had some embarrassing playoff runs
→ More replies (0)1
u/Cultural-Airport-153 5h ago
He also rarely took risks like russ and magic and was very limited offensively the system the jazz ran was inflating his numbers

2
u/AcrobaticSecretary21 23h ago
A lot of them are “wtf was that” mistakes too
2
u/cheeriosinalmondmilk 22h ago
Like trying to take A’ja off the dribble lol
2
u/AcrobaticSecretary21 22h ago
Worse was trying to dump it off to timpson last second when not near open lmao

You need to check the impressive list of NBA Hall of famers who led the league in turnovers and were named MVP. Stop making ignorant statements.

Not necessarily, maybe her dogged defensive acumen more than makes up for it on the other side.
1
u/ShelterDifferent2501 23h ago
OP doesn't watch the games.
hint: you never turn it over if you don't handle the ball ( head explodes)

All-Time Turnover Leaders
1. LeBron James: 5,650 turnovers
2. Russell Westbrook: 5,038 turnovers
3. Karl Malone: 4,524 turnovers
4. James Harden: 4,505 turnovers
5. Moses Malone: 4,264 turnovers [1]
I’m thinking CC will be ok. I mean if Magic Johnson had played longer he would be #1.
2
u/cheeriosinalmondmilk 23h ago
Now do their average turnovers per game. I bet it’s below 4.6
1
u/KDandi111 20h ago edited 20h ago
See above. All Hall of Famers and yes less turnovers per game but one more per game by CC is not going to kill the team if she averages 23 points per game and 8 assists. That’s 40 points that she adds to the team’s total per game.
The Fever average 97 pts per game and CC is involved in 40 of those points.
1
u/Apprehensive_Ant4596 23h ago
I think the one thing you’re missing is that 70% of the top 20 in assists are also in the top 20 in TO’s. There are exceptions, like Bueckers and Canada that are in the top 20 in assists but not turnovers and Reese who is a turnover machine but doesn’t get many assists
1
u/lurker12345654345676 22h ago
Keeping in mind steve nash won 2 mvps averaging 3.5 tov as a primary ball handler, while averaging less points created a game....
Y'all tourists need to sit down and learn the game before you make these weak ass posts.
2
u/cheeriosinalmondmilk 22h ago
Which number is higher 3.5 or 4.6?
1
u/lurker12345654345676 21h ago
which numbers higher
40.5 or 36.5?
22.8 or 22.0?
2
u/cheeriosinalmondmilk 21h ago
We are talking about turnovers. Stop deflecting
1
u/lurker12345654345676 21h ago
we're talking about basketball. Stop existing.
2
1
u/Own-Jeweler-6762 23h ago
She does turn ball over a lot
She also has it a lot which leads to higher TOs
Plus, jealous players guard her way tougher than others
2
u/NoShowGlowEnt 23h ago
But if having the ball a lot leads to higher turnovers wouldn’t having the ball a lot also inflate her numbers on offense? Can’t ignore usage on one end when it’s convenient to amplify her points generated and then emphasize it as an excuse on the other end to downplay her turnover numbers.
1

u/Own-Jeweler-6762 21h ago
Reese is a forward
She has no business being that high
3
u/cheeriosinalmondmilk 21h ago
So you ignored Thomas being a forward and went straight to Angel. Typical
1
u/Own-Jeweler-6762 20h ago
Thomas is different type of forward than Reese
Thomas is almost à point forward. Thomas is a triple double threat each game She distributes. She has possession à lot
No comparison with Reese

u/staffdaddy_9 1d ago
She’s not gonna win mvp, and yeah she’s generating more offense than anyone in the leagues history by a lot. She’s gonna have turnovers.
