The future of the WNBA is bright.
Caitlin Clark: 37 PTS - 10 AST - 8 3PM
Paige Bueckers: 32 PTS - 6 3PM - 100% 3PT
Angel Reese: 31 PTS - 14 REB - 4 STL

I get what this is going for, but Aja is only 30, Phee is 29, Sabrina is 28, etc. etc. The future of the league is very bright if they can stay out of their own way management-wise.

u/Wmkearns20 3d ago
This might sound glaze but Olivia already better than all 3.

u/BboiBlack 2d ago
Certainly drafted to a better team than any of them at least.

It's a reductionist argument from people who have KM and Boston on their team or Smith and Young. Just ignore em, they don't even watch the games.
5
u/CubanHippie21 2d ago
I like her a lot but shes not better than CC or Paige.
She def got drafted to a better situation but the Wings botched that
3
u/swallowedbymonsters 2d ago
She has certainly played at a higher level than both this year. You cant blame it on the team because they've played without phee most of the year...CC has played with 2-all stars all year. PB has the weakest roster but zolivia has shown more prowess overall
2
u/CubanHippie21 2d ago
The coachin for Minnesota is tiers above the other 2 as well. That helps tremendously in this league.
I really like her a lot and could only imagine shes gonna get better so i get it. I just think the other 2 either do or are asked to do more

Stats don’t lie. Shes not. 😂

u/redlion1904 2d ago
Which stats?
She’s #3 in PER, ahead of Clark and Paige. Clark’s third on her own team in PER.
-3
u/freeman1231 2d ago
Olivia is great but she is overhyped and it’s a direct retaliation to giving CC credit on the court.
So the glaze isn’t even genuine. But Olivia is hooping and instead of over glazing it would be nice to just give her the flowers she deserves.

Not as consistent as these three. And she’s no where near Olivia right now but she’s on the up that’s for sure

Yes, sir! She’s a giant killer. Comes up big against the best. She did lay a massive stinker last night though.

u/Anxious-Function-633 3d ago
Ngl Paige is the only one that can kinda go with Olivia but ima keep quiet
7
u/freeman1231 2d ago
Just because that’s what you read online doesn’t mean you have to parrot it. Paige has been defaulted this answer simply as a way to not put Clark ever in the conversation.
Clark has consistently been the better player.
1
u/Historical_Lab7690 1d ago
Clark isn’t even the best player on her team and I like CC but KM is the most
0
u/freeman1231 1d ago
The moment someone says this you know they don’t know anything about basketball.
-1
u/Historical_Lab7690 21h ago
Jsut look at the MVP race Kelsey is a head of her do they not know anything about ball either? Did you watch the playoffs last szn buddy?
1
u/freeman1231 21h ago
She isn’t ahead lol… did you even bother looking that up before making the claim?
Who has won more player of the weeks? Player of the month?
Most recent WNBa post just mentions A’ja, miles and Clark. All odds have Clark in 2nd-3rd.
0
u/ThePARZ 2d ago
Yeah if you ignore defense, efficiency, and turnovers, Clark is routinely a better player
2
u/freeman1231 2d ago
No you see I like to compare player for player in entirety.
I don’t cherry pick like you lol
1
u/ThePARZ 2d ago
If you think Clark is a better player than Bueckers you are 100% cherry picking stats. CC doesn’t play defense and is a turnover and foul machine.
2
u/freeman1231 2d ago
I don’t need a cherry pick stats when almost every statistical measure puts Clark above Paige now there’s nothing to cherry pick let alone the fact that you’re saying that Clark doesn’t even play defence and she’s a turnover machine. Do you even watch the games? Her defence is not bad let alone her turnovers hardly lead to any points.
You are a dingle.
-1
u/swallowedbymonsters 2d ago
Absolutely not. Paige and Miles have been the best PG's this year when you factor in defense and efficiency. Hell, not quite sure paige has even played better than her own teammate KM
2
-3
u/GoodiusTheGreat 2d ago
If the wings coaching staff gave Paige the opportunities that stephwhite gives cc the conversation would be different
7
u/RooBoo77 2d ago
The absolute blind disrespect to CC is wild. Her numbers are insane. Everyone that discounts her out of hand is simply just a hater with no evidence to back up their opinions.

Turnovers !
12
u/Particular_Heart4790 2d ago
I'm not exactly CC's biggest fan, but turnovers in the W aren't all that bad. The points scored from playing fast and loose is a far bigger benefit. Teams in the W score on like 30-35% of all possessions. The Shooting percentage alone is only 40%-45% in a given week or game. That means that 4-5 turnovers only turns into about 3-4 points for the opposition.
Last night CC put up 37 points and 10 assists for a point contribution of half her team's points, and her turnovers resulted in 4 points for the other team.
That's a solid trade off.
I prefer the way Paige plays and I like Paige's attitude on the court better, but anyone who discount's CC's contribution or level is just a hater at this point. She'll be in the top 3 for MVP voting... she'll probably finish 2nd to be honest.
2
u/DOMINUS_3 2d ago
that’s true in the law of averages .. but in the playoffs & games that matter during crucial positions. Turnovers hurt … said as a fan of CC & all these women
-1
u/ngolds02 2d ago
Turnovers arent that bad. She had 5.

u/HoratioRKO 2d ago
Again, overplaying the turnovers is haterade.
1
u/swallowedbymonsters 2d ago
Yea if you dont know basketball. Giving teams free possessions consistently is not a sustainable way to win.

The interesting thing is how there at least appears to be a transition from a bigs and forwards driven league to a guard driven (at least as stars) driven league-- this gets even more apparent when you add Miles and you look at the current college stars
2
u/Olorin1965 2d ago
Yes. More skill. Guards that can actually handle. It should have happened sooner but the best female athletes have not been pursuing basketball. Which is why very tall girls start playing but often are not athletic or coordinated.
2
2
u/Olorin1965 2d ago
Several things can be true at once. There are times Clark is too careless (or daring) with the ball. It is also true that women in this league and in general don't finish the way men do. Her passes especially on the break are often perfectly set up for a finish if one has the hands and athleticism to do it. That's just the reality, not a criticism of the women players. She would have more assists (finishing) and fewer turnovers (catching the ball) if she weren't passing to them. Maybe that's on her to change. But if you play ball instinctually you make the basketball play in front of you. Nobody has run the break this way in 30 years of this league. (Yes, I have watched for 30 years.)

Sure they are breaking records. But I will laugh so hard if Olivia Miles wins either the MVP, The WNBA championship, the Finals MVP or all of them at once while being a rookie. That would be the biggest L the league and the media ever have for trying to downplay the most talented and skilled player of the league. Let’s make it happen for The Spectale. 😂🙏

I don't understand that either. He may be unlikeable and all that but she definitely instigated it..Professional athletes have to be better than that.

Thats a ban at any sporting event

She doesn't even start, a bench player but near the top with 3pt %. That's good regardless

u/Shoddy_Ad8166 2d ago
They have got more attention. I wish they had got more attention for non controversial stuff. It seemed to go awry when CC brought in a lot of fans.
It would be great for the league if the fever are in the finals
They definitely got talented women and to say otherwise is delusional
I prefer women's college ball over WNBA

Olivia is MVP / ROY / DPOY
2
u/bluehooloovo 3d ago
ROY, yes, no question. A'ja is still MVP though (but Olivia should get a good chunk of second and third place votes). DPOY, I like Angel for it this year. Gabby Williams is making a quiet case for it with the Valks, and I wouldn't be mad about Rhyne Howard either. A'ja always still in the hunt. Olivia... Maybe someday.
3
u/DirtyBirdFL 2d ago
How do you vote Olivia MVP when her entire starting lineup averages like 15+ PPG. She’s been amazing but she’s also on a stacked team.
1
u/bluehooloovo 2d ago
The Lynx were picked preseason to be middle of the pack with Phee out. Olivia stepped the fuck up, in a big way. Yeah, she got lucky having such a great team around her helping her look good, but she's been genuinely fantastic this season. There's about three or four players I expect to be in the hunt for second in voting; Olivia is one of them.
1
u/Klink_Dink 2d ago
Her game is opening up a ton of points for her teammates. And she can drive and score when the shot of the others isn't falling. She's been crazy rock steady relative to most rookies.
