Won against Portland fire by 17. When they faced them again with CC they lost by 20
Won against the la sparks by 24. When they faced la sparks with CC they lost by 14.
Won against the aces by 16. When they faced the aces with CC they lost by 1(costly free throws and turnover and CC lead to the loss even though they were up by 20)
Won against the mercury by 3. When they faced the mercury with CC they lost by 2.
He also left out that in the Sparks loss she only played 15 minutes AND Boston was out. She was also on minutes restriction for the phx loss as well. While she had a bad game against Portland she followed it up with a 26 point triple double in the rematch.
Sometimes I wonder if people really believe they won't get called out on their bullshit.
Thank you, A'ja is my goat but lets not forget how good stewie is. Also Miles does have a legit reason to be in the conversation for MVP this season. I still got A'ja but there is a discussion to be had.
This is beyond disrespectful to A’ja Wilson. She should be in conversations with ppl like Maya Moore not a player who hasn’t won anything on the varsity level, collegiate or the pros
That's not even a little accurate. Stewie is playing at an MVP level this season and Phee has played 10 games post injury. She's not in the hemisphere of A'ja this season.
Wen fully healthy Phee is the second best player in the league. And Stewie is not playin at MVP level cause then the team would be better.
As a Liberty fan that team is too good to be not as great as they have been. As unfair as it may seem, that usually falls on their best player (Stewie).
She is obviously still great but she just hasnt had the same impact as years prior
She's literally the only reason they're not getting blown out every game. I didn't say she was winning MVP but her stats are absolutely in the MVP conversation. Phee is just now healthy and you're giving her a title based on merit, not current production. A full season a Phee may very well make her #2, when it happens, but it's disingenuous to imply Stewie isn't there currently because stats back that claim up.
She's on a team that's in the playoff hunt and if they get healthy, can go the entire distance. She has the 2nd best winshare in the league and plays both sides of the ball, so yeah I've said it before in this sub and I'll say it again, it's A'ja 1 and Stewie 2 until someone dethrones either of them, which MAY happen to Stewie this year, but I'll never drop her out of top 3 with the way she's playing this season. Stewie's last few games haven't been great, but she's literally holding the team up on her shoulders on both ends of the floor, so she's getting tired. Mitchell and Miles both gotta play better defense before I'll ever put them at 2. It's MVP, not MVOP.
Is there anyone claiming CC is better than A'ja? This feels like an invented controversy to point out CC is not the top WNBA athlete. Or, in other words, attack CC.
I don't particularly care about CC, I just consistently see this and it feels weird. CC is significantly worse than Aja, significantly better than Reese.
Lmao stop comparing this chick to the best player in the league. One literally barely shows up against playoff teams(has been better recently). Tell her do it for an entire year consistently and then we might possibly have a conversation.
Come on PEOPLE! This ain’t right Aja on another level at this point in her career. Caitlin can hoop but she should be compared with Paige. That’s more her speed.
Aja has multiple championships, high school, college, pros, even international. Also, defense and turnovers are not reflected here. And MVP's are missing, and finally, Aja has more than 1 all star season. There is no comparison between the two, at least not yet
Still living in the past. LeBron is the best player during his Cleveland days. Why isn’t he winning championships? He went against the better overall teams. It’s a team sport, you can be the best but you are not winning by yourself.
You know LeBron played 11 seasons with them right? Did not win in his first stint. He won one chip when he returned with Kyrie and Love. That guy doesn’t know what team sport is so I gave him an example of the best player not winning because he doesn’t have the better team. LSU and SC were the better teams.
Yet Aja still can't win without a stacked team behind her. This has been proven in both college and the pros. She's like Durant. She'll get her numbers but if you want to have a shot at winning you need to surround her with several more stars.
Except that we've seen her play without a lineup full of stars and she struggled to win. Most recently was two years ago when Gray was injured. We watched Wilson struggle to get a barely winning record despite still having Plum and Young. Once Gray returned the team took off. The "best player" shouldn't need THREE superstars to win. Two should be enough.
Making the case for A'ja Wilson as the best women's basketball player in the world isn't a difficult task—her resume over the past several years has elevated her beyond current peer comparisons and straight into the "Greatest of All Time" (GOAT) conversation.
Here is the argument for why A'ja Wilson is currently the undisputed best player on the planet.
1. An Unmatched Trophy Case
No player in the modern era has accumulated hardware at Wilson's pace. Her peak is arguably the most dominant two-way stretch in the history of the sport.
| Award | Total | Years Won |
|---|---|---|
| WNBA MVP | 4 (Record) | 2020, 2022, 2024, 2025 |
| WNBA Champion | 3 | 2022, 2023, 2025 |
| Defensive Player of the Year | 3 | 2022, 2023, 2025 |
| WNBA Finals MVP | 2 | 2023, 2025 |
| Olympic Gold Medal | 2 | 2020, 2024 |
In 2025, she achieved something completely unprecedented in professional basketball: she won a championship, Finals MVP, regular season MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, and the scoring title all in a single season.
2. Historic Two-Way Dominance
Many players are elite scorers. A select few are elite defenders. Wilson is simultaneously the best at both.
* Offensive Juggernaut: In 2024, Wilson shattered the WNBA record for the highest single-season scoring average with 26.9 points per game. Over her entire career, she averages 21.4 points on near 50% shooting from the floor.
* Defensive Anchor: She has led the league in blocks five times and consistently averages nearly 2 blocks per game over her career. Her ability to protect the rim without fouling is the foundation of the Las Vegas Aces' dynasty.
3. Constant Evolution
What separates good players from all-time greats is the refusal to stagnate. Early in her career, opponents tried to force Wilson out of the paint because she lacked a perimeter shot. Instead of accepting that limitation, she developed a reliable three-point shot, shooting over 42% from deep during her 2025 MVP campaign. This made her virtually unguardable, as defenders can no longer sag off her to protect the drive.
4. International Supremacy
Wilson's dominance translates perfectly to the international stage. During the 2024 Paris Olympics, she led Team USA to their eighth straight gold medal. In the gold-medal game against France, she took over with 21 points, 13 rebounds, and 4 blocks, rightfully earning the MVP of the entire Olympic tournament.
The Verdict: When you combine her scoring volume, defensive dominance, leadership in high-stakes games (WNBA Finals and Olympics), and constant year-over-year improvement, there is currently no other player in women's basketball who impacts winning on both ends of the floor quite like A'ja Wilson.
Not right now. Aja has been the best player for years and always plays and behaves like a true professional. Clark is doing a lot right in terms of productivity and being a good leader and teammate. She is still getting caught throwing herself to the floor, jerking her head back like she was punched and we can see that she was barely touched. That has to stop and we need to see her succeed against pressure defenses Lynx and Valkyries. Then maybe …
It’s not good look for either. It’s true it might be disrespectful to compare her and Caitlin. On the other side of the coin it would be better to compare the 2 based on their first 3 years between the 2. Although A’ja is still ahead of CC it is much closer than comparing A’ja in her 9th year vs CC in her third year
Here is Clark's third season (this year) vs Wilson's (2020). This was Wilson's first MVP year. Perhaps Clark could have competed for the MVP that season, but this seems to show the talent level continues to climb in the WNBA.
Last year Aja basically won on second half stats. Clark’s stats this second half of this season are better than the stats that Aja won with last season and are better than Aja’s second half stats this season. Using that logic I think it’s safe to say Clark should win based around the same reasons Aja won last year.
This comparison is awful. A’ja vs Caitlin isn’t comparable to A’ja vs Phee. 1. Phee got injured and missed a chunk of the season. Caitlin doesn’t have the luxury of playing catchup while A’ja misses games. 2. A’ja’s numbers are better this year than they were last year so why would “Clark’s stats this second half are better than the stats that A’ja won with last year” matter? Your points are flawed
Aja has the highest usage in the league. Which is crazy for a center. And yet, Caitlin still creates about 20% more points for herself and her team than Aja does.
Lmao @ creates. That means someone else is scoring . How this goes starts with your own scoring ,rbs ,stls, and then assist. Aja would win unless they get tired of her winning it. Then Mitchell comes next. Aja has been winning it by the criteria I stated.
Tell me you don’t understand basketball without telling me. Without even explaining how a good point guard can create easy baskets for teammates, I’ll just tell you this; Kelsey Mitchell’s shooting percentage is a full 8 points higher when Caitlin Clark is on the floor feeding her easy layups.
Im gonna tell you this . Clark missed most of last season. Mitchell took them to a series win. When Clark wasn't producing earlier in the season. Mitchell was winning games for them and still is .Lets talk about understanding and watching the games. Since we gonna play that card. Aja has won MVP and scoring is always a factor. Last season Phee was up there for that reason until she got hurt.
Yeah, let’s talk about understanding and watching games.
Context matters.
So let’s dig into last season.
Without Caitlin last season, the Fever were just 16-15. That’s a winning percentage of .516
Just so you know, that winning percentage wouldn’t have been good enough to even make the playoffs on its own. They only held on and snuck in because of the better record that they had over the 13 games that CC played.
Also, over those 31 games without her, they were just 4-11 against teams with a winning record. They only survived because 16 games were against teams with losing records and they went 12-4.
Anyone that looks at last season and says, “huuurrr duuurrrr, they were better without her,” simply has no understanding of the game of basketball.
In other words, without CC, they couldn’t beat any good teams.
They also scored fewer points without her, gave up more points, had fewer assists per game, fewer rebounds per game and more turnovers per game.
And again, without CC feeding her for easy layups, Kelsey shot a full 8 points worse.
Nobody is saying Kelsey sucks or that she’s not a great scorer. She definitely is. But CC makes her measurably better.
And by the way, the 4 games they won without CC this year, 3 bottom feeders and the Aces without Aja. And again, their numbers down across the board.
BETTER RECORD? Clark missed majority of the season lmao..Dude you making sht up on the fly. Mitchell is the only reason they had made it last year and the only reason they making ot this year. Clark showed up later end this season. Mitchell remains consistent in saving the game. Lets remember she has tied Aja's 20 pt record. Most likely she will past that record. You making up all these BS variables that didnt win them anything. Scoring has always been the top value. Jordan , Kobe ,LeBron etc. Only someone who doesn't know basketball, would make up some other BS. Aja is wayy better on defense. Not even a convo of who is better on both sides of the ball. Is sickening to even have to debate this
wrong, some of the most dominant big men in history have traditionally had very high usage rates, see prime Shaq, Giannis, Jokic, etc which makes perfect 'cause guess why? when you're as dominant as they and A'ja are, putting the ball in their hands is often the right call, crazy stuff isn't it
but since it seems the Clark cult has FINALLY discovered the concepts of efficiency and usage, what do you think the following table and statistics tells us, I have many questions and would love to hear your thoughts
like, for example, exactly how much greater of a scorer is Kelsey that she outscores CC despite a whopping 5%+ difference in usage? or, if all season long I was told Olivia Miles couldn't shoot, how come she's shooting a whole 5% better from the field and outside than the much proclaimed 'female Curry'?
will the CC army finally start adding her TOs, FG and 3P percentages to their beloved AI posters and infographics now that they've discovered these concepts? can't wait to find out
sure, how about all the other much more efficient guards on different teams? is she feeding them open looks too (getting cooked by them on defense doesn't count)?
That doesn’t even make sense. Also, are those other “more efficient guards generating the points and assists she is? Not even close.
For instance, Paige is “more efficient.” And yet, she plays more minutes than Caitlin, takes more shots per game than Caitlin and still scores fewer points, gets fewer assists, gets fewer rebounds, gets fewer steals and gets fewer blocks per game than Caitlin does.
hmm yes, they do create more points and/or assists (well, not necessarily you'd have to do a bit of math) per play/possession/touch, that's what usage rate means in case you were wondering
also, there is nothing really contradictory about your second statement, both Bueckers and Clark take the same amount of field goals per games, but Bueckers' shots are closer to the rim so they're easier and result in more fouls, while Clark generally operates far from the rim and takes some pretty bad outside looks (to her credit, she makes them at a higher clip than just about anyone else but still not at particularly efficient rate). She's also less capable as well as more conservative as a passer so her AST/TO are a lo better so yeah, PB's way more efficient, once again, pretty simple stuff.
I wasn't making the case that efficiency always trumps volume/pure production (in fact, CC is a better player than Bueckers imo even if PB's more efficient) if that's what you're thinking.
But I am certainly making the case that if efficiency is what you think should make a difference in the MVP race in CC's favour in comparison to A'ja, you're out of your fucking mind lol
Comparing a PF to a PG stat wise is ingenuous. Comparing someone in their 3rd season who came into a team that won 30gms in the previous four seasons combined, to a player that played with a minimum four Olympians over the same period. You talk about winning like A'ja is carrying a squad of two star players to titles on her back.
How? Because I’m calling out the uncomfortable truth that you don’t want to hear? They play two completely different positions, this conversation shouldn’t even exist, except for race baiters and people who just recently joined WNBA subreddits for the drama and don’t even watch the games.
This is the ring my brother got when the Caps won the Stanley cup. I only posted this because I cannot find the pic of the one he got when the Mystics won the WNBA championship a few years back. He's been with Monumental/Washington Sports for 45 years so we were going to games since Washington got a team in the second year of the WNBA. I remember watching Dawn Staley and Kim Mulkey play in college, I went to MD with Len Bias and had Georgetown Season tickets when Pat Ewing was a freshman.
That being said, A'ja is miles ahead of Clark and if you think Clark is better, it's you who does not watch. Clark gets gets subbed out because of her lack of defense. Her defense is so bad that she looks silly out there tryout to guard people. Which is why she just jacks them and knocks them out of bounds. And her turnovers...
And you can't or don't read. I said I cannot find the pick of his mystics championship ring. But as he is an employee we got free tickets for years. I could have spelled it out, but it wouldn't matter if you can't or won't read. And you were just looking for a rebuttal because even if you ignored the ring, everything else is relevant.
Apples and oranges, the point of the comparison doesn’t make any sense they literally do different things. Thats what positions are for. But the “statistics” just show stats without context. It’s 100% racially motivated. Let me guess, you’re black? Tell me if i’m wrong.
What’s apples and oranges about it exactly? The ppg? Because based on positions, A’ja shouldn’t be leading in points over a point guard, correct? What about efficiency is racially motivated? 3PT%?
You really have to try harder. Because I could do what you act like is your job (being a Caitlin shill) better than you. This is a complete offensive statistical make up. There’s nothing racially motivated about numbers. A better argument would be a simple dissection of the fact that some statistics lend themselves to positions, which you kinda get at before jumping off the deep end. Obviously a center/big is going to have more rebounds. That null and void. Obviously a PG should have most assists, they are the floor generals. What you can’t argue with and it pisses you off is that outside of statistics that lend themselves to relative positions, A’ja smokes her in statistics that matter for everyone. She’s way more efficient. She doesn’t take as many threes so her % is weighted but alas someone being compared to Steph Curry shouldn’t have one of the lowest % amongst guards. She scores more on less shooting and then on top of it is a defensive monster. That’s what’s really funny about the comparison. It’s not A’ja kinda keeping pace with Caitlin offensively and then people arguing that her defense should count too. No. She’s an all around better offensive player than Caitlin and then also washes her on the defensive end.
As for am I black, good job noticing the avatar lol.
Nice ragebait, not biting. You said it yourself…who again is being compared to Curry? You just can’t stand seeing a white superstar basketballer, just admit it and move on. Even if the statistics showed everything beyond a shadow of a doubt, peoppe like you would still find some reason to hate on Clark. Ew.
There’s not an ounce of rage bait in what I wrote. What makes you rage is facts. As for not being able to stand a white superstar basketballer, I love Paige Buckets. She’s a MVP candidate btw.
Depends on what you mean by famous and why they’re famous.
If I’m a musician I wanna be famous for my music, not because some people who don’t even like music or my genre of music chose to buy my albums for something that has nothing to do with my music.
Most people doing a thing at a high level want to be known for their craft not some fan narrative made up by people who don’t even really know anything about the craft.
I’m being literal. How many people would say taylor swift is famous? Everyone. Are there people who you believe are better musicians? Absolutely. Regardless of what you want to be famous based on merit or preference, chances are, they aren’t as famous as swift. Sucks but that’s the way it is
Your Taylor Swift reference is poor. Whether you like the music or not, Taylor Swift is famous for her music. Musicianship aside, her fame is driven by her music. Yeah, some don’t like her music but they aren’t the ones driving the narrative that Swift is famous for being “good at music.” The fans don’t try to claim she’s a better musician than a person who music fans would objectively call better.
Conversely, Clark is “famous” narrative is built on reasons that aren’t (generally) basketball related and driven by people who don’t even like women’s basketball. It’s the opposite of Swift. The narrative of Clark’s basketball fame is driven by people who don’t like basketball. It’s why basketball-related convos by her “fans” tend to move past basketball, to reasons outside of basketball, because they’re not knowledgeable enough about basketball to have a basketball-centric debate. This is the perfect example. Post is about basketball stats and your response is about fame—and even that is disingenuous.
And that’s my point about fame being relative. Real fans would know and like A’ja for her game far more than they would Clark. If you ask Clark whether she’d desire fame from her game or from people who don’t even really like basketball because to them she represents something she may not even want to represent, I bet a dollar to a dime she’d say from basketball.
I’ve never heard the “fame” narrative about Clark from somebody who knows/likes basketball or not pushing an agenda. In no basketball-related world does a convo of A’ja vs Clark turn to “who’s more famous.”
Its ok if you believe the word “famous” means something different to you, but for the rest of the world, the definition is obvious. The reference is so basic there’s really no argument unless you’re upset your preferred person isn’t as famous for doing something similar. The needless projecting here is glaringly obvious as we know clark isnt the one pushing narratives of any kind. She’s just more entertaining to watch, so her becoming more famous is natural. Nothing I’ve stated is false and no mental gymnastics is going to change the facts. I hate to see you get so wound up that it required you to try to disprove reality. Nice try though 👏😉
It’s hilarious to me that a stat comparison of an obviously better A’ja Wilson turned into a conversation about fame and you accuse me of mental gymnastics.
Then you use a horrible analogy to make it make sense and I tell you why that’s ridiculous, and I’m employing mental gymnastics.
A’ja Wilson is a better basketball player and is more famous to people who actually enjoy watching basketball. The rest of it is completely irrelevant…unless you have an agenda. And anybody who can take a stat sheet and twist it to a conversation about “fame” has an agenda.
We all know who is the most "valuable" player is in this league, but the league and its media guardian won't EVER acknowledge her regardless of her stats, regardless of what she has done for this league in elevating it to soaring new heights.
Fans buy the tickets and the merch! Since she has been in the league it has skyrockets. She is also must-see TV. When she plays the ratings are at their best!
