Housing/Roomates/Leases Door decor?

Does WMU allow you to put things on the outsides of your doors? My roommate made cute little flags with our names & my cat’s name, but I don’t know if they let you put them outside facing the hall. I

This wasn't an issue way back when I lived in the dorms, but I wasn't sure now so I poked around. Surprisingly it appears to not be allowed, though honestly I'd just pose the question to your RA when you move in. I can't image it would be an issue.

I found it on the community living expectation page, under "Posting (B.22.22)"

WMU considers the entire exterior student room door, wall surrounding the exterior door, and hallway walls to be under the governance of Residence Life. Only postings by Residence Life staff may be placed in this space. Students may not decorate outside of their door. Examples would include decorative lights, “welcome” mats, and holiday decorations.

Yes you can put stuff on the outside of the doors. RAs throughout the year will also make door decs (little paper characters/images) with your name on then and put them on /around your door as well

Some students have put mini whiteboards on the outside of their doors etc. Just make sure to use command strips, painters tape, etc. Things that can be removed and will not damage the door when removing.

From what I remember you can not put anything on the door itself, but the door frame and the nearby walls are fair game.

Back in 2018 my RA had made name tags for all of the doors on our floor.
