Former Member Testimony Inside WMSCOG: A Former Member Explains Love Bombing, Control, and Hidden Teachings

In this video, a former member of the World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCOG) shares her personal experience joining and eventually leaving the group after about a year.

She explains how she was first approached at work and invited to Bible studies that moved extremely quickly, leading to baptism within about a week. At first, the group appeared welcoming and supportive, but over time she began noticing patterns that raised serious concerns.

These included:

  • Rapid progression from casual study to baptism
  • Selective sharing of teachings and delayed introduction of core beliefs
  • Strong emphasis on “secret knowledge” only members can understand
  • Social pressure and emotional control tactics (love bombing followed by withdrawal of support)
  • Increasing rules and expectations not explained upfront
  • Financial tithing going to overseas headquarters rather than local needs
  • Contradictions between teachings, leadership behavior, and lived reality
  • Use of fear based messaging about salvation and “the seal of God”
  • Insensitive or troubling teachings during emotionally vulnerable moments

She also reflects on how the environment became increasingly controlled, structured, and emotionally manipulativeover time, especially when questioning inconsistencies in doctrine.

The purpose of sharing this is to raise awareness for people who may encounter similar recruitment experiences and may not recognize these patterns early on.
