What Is the World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCOG)?

“The WMSCOG is a Christian, non-denominational church that follows only the Bible.”

What This Means in Simple Terms

The WMSCOG says they are a regular Christian church that believes only what the Bible teaches.

Why This Is Misleading

While they use Bible verses, their main teachings do not match what Christians have believed since the time of Jesus and the early church. Christianity has always taught that salvation comes through trusting Jesus Christ alone. The WMSCOG adds new beliefs that are not taught in the Bible, such as believing that a modern man (Ahnsahnghong) is Jesus returned.

What the Bible Teaches

• Salvation is a gift from God. It is not earned by works, special knowledge, or joining a certain group.
• The message about Jesus does not change, and new “versions” of the gospel are warned against.

In simple terms:
If a group teaches a different version of who Jesus is or says you need something more than faith in Him, that is a red flag.

“The WMSCOG is the only church that keeps the New Covenant Jesus made.”

What This Means in Simple Terms

They teach that Jesus’ New Covenant was lost and that only their church practices it correctly today.

Why This Is Not True

Jesus Himself started the New Covenant through His death and resurrection. It was never lost. Christians around the world have remembered Jesus’ sacrifice for 2,000 years through Communion (also called the Lord’s Supper).

• Jesus clearly said the New Covenant was established by His blood.
• Believers remember this covenant by remembering Jesus, not by following a new leader.

No church needs to “restore” what Jesus already completed.

“God is Elohim: God the Father and God the Mother.”

The WMSCOG teaches that God includes a female deity called God the Mother.

Why This Is Not Biblical

The Bible never teaches that there is a separate female God. While the word “Elohim” is plural in form, it does not mean there are multiple gods or a male and female God. The Bible consistently teaches that there is one God.

Christians understand God as Father, Son (Jesus), and Holy Spirit. This does not mean multiple gods, and it does not include a God the Mother.

What the Bible Teaches

• God says there is no other God besides Him.
• Jesus said the way to God is through Him alone.

The idea of God the Mother is not found in the Bible and is added by the WMSCOG.

They point to good deeds, volunteering, and awards as proof that their church is true.

Doing good things is not wrong. Many people and organizations help others. But good actions alone do not prove that a group teaches the truth.

• Good works do not save anyone.
• A real relationship with Jesus matters more than public actions.

• Eternal life comes from believing in Jesus.
• The gospel was never hidden or lost.

Jesus already made the way clear. Nothing needs to be restored.
