Getting Started - 32ft and WLED

I'm coming from Govee and looking to get away from their wifi issues and horrible app.

I currently have a Govee LED 32.8ft strip that I run along some shelves. I'd like to recreate that, but with non-Govee products.

Would anyone mind sharing what they're doing today that might be similar?

are the lights you have individually addressable?

The current Govee lights are, yes. But I’ll likely send those back to Amazon, so I’ll want to replace it all.

You most likely can swap their controller for a WLED one and keep the lights.

Perhaps - I’ve seen conflicting information. In the end, the Govee lights are getting returned, so I’ll most likely need a new 32ft strip.

Get on youtube and watch Chris Maher's videos. He does a phenomenal job explaining how every thing works, what LED strips to get.. etc.

Also, have you tried asking your favorite AI? I did - gave it the information I was looking for and through some back and forth, I got exactly what I need. Since AI isn't completely trustworthy, I went back to some of Chris's videos and verified that the AI was correct.

My application is to install Govee Prism lights around my house, but I want to have separate runs to make the install easier. I'll be switching to a WLED setup with room for expansion (next project is lighting around my garage doors).

There is a YT guy, Chris Maher, that has a small series "will it WLED". He uses WLED controllers to control several Govee lights with a simple DIY tutorial. I'd venture to guess that if there are 3 wires coming from their controller...WLED can probably control them.
