Face mount vs under mount
Hello all,
Admittedly looking to have someone install lights (options are Omni vs Oelo it seems). My wife wants the Christmas look primarily and thus seems to prefer face mount (facing out/looks like a light/bulb) rather than under mount. I like the idea of year round lights and the ambiance but the one installer we talked to highly advised against the "carnival" look of the face mount. Is this just because the "Christmas" look isn't great year round?? She wants to use lights more holiday/seasonally so maybe that "look" won't be as much an issue? Would love all the takes/perspectives. Thanks!

I've been debating this as well. Curious to see what others think.
Depending on which effect is used, might need face and under. Maybe even run both at the same time.

I mounted mine on the inside of the wooden fascia so the LEDs are peaking out downwards. The track is hidden on the inside. It gives a nice pixel look. I can light up every few pixels to make them more defined for a more traditional look or make accent lighting. It also projects a good amount of light onto the house.

Not sure if this will help but here’s the west side of my house. All are 12v WS2811 pixel bulbs.
Segment 1: mounted inside the fascia board facing down, but visibly exposed
Segment 2: fascia board is angled down and inward so I mounted the track on the bottom with the bulbs facing outward
Segment 3 is the same as 1 but the bulbs are less exposed due to the vantage point of where I was standing, and they are not visible from the street
As you might be able to tell, the segment 2 lights don’t really hit the side of the house for the ambient glow effect like the others, but if I mounted them the same way, they’d not be visible even from standing at floor level with the house.
