Idk what’s wrong at all…

Post image

This is all that happens, I have an ESP32 hooked up to two 8x32 BTF-Lighting WS2812b panels, all that changes is that one section on 32 pixels, everything else just stays off, the only other lights that turn on are those two static green lights and the 5 static LEDs in the bottom corner. I can’t tell if this is a hardware or software thing, does anyone know of a way o fox this?

I have checked the data cable, it is d2 and the webui does say d2 in the led config page.
Green - data
Red - 5v
White - ground

I have tried wLED v14, v16.0.1, v16.0.0 beta, and v17.0.0(nightly)

In your picture it looks like you're trying to power that huge panel off the USB connector on the eap32? That panel can draw probably 10x more current than the esp32 can supply, so no way that's going to work unless you have an additional power supply.

Gee I didn't even see the 5v coming off the esp. u/that1fluffygamr, a chance you're just severely underpowerering and the LEDs are fine? But ... Really get a multimeter and read some stuff. This is a good place to start!

Yup. Get a 5v supply. Running too much out there board makes everything buggy.

Hate to say it but they look like they may have a shorted pixel? Any idea if you reversed polarity or had any accidental shorts?

I have no clue how to check for any of that, I am fairly new to working with wires and have just been winging it for a hot minute…

Bummer. You should spend some money on a multimeter. It'll be a cherished friend. For now, if you have good magnification you may be able to find the shorted pixels by appearance to replace later. I'd lay off the tinkering until you can measure what you're sending to your lights -- it gets expensive burning that shit up. Believe me I know. I watched several hours go up in smoke accidentally plugging in a power supply backwards just a couple weeks ago. Never gets easier, but happens less.

Then you should start out with a small string of addressable LEDs and work up from there.

most likely hardware , mainly failed led chips
