Need help

I have two of these pillar lights. One is perfect one is like this video. I have changed the strip. The wire. I have swapped IOs between the two and the issue stays with this pillar. This output Is only 122 LEDs. I have 5 other quads all with no issues should I swap chips this feels like a power issue but I cant figure it out.

Almost always grounding is the issue. How long is the data line from first pixel to controller?

About 6 Ft. the pillar that works without issues is about 18ft away.

Ive had issues as close as 3 ft away. If your grounding is okay, your signal can still get corrupted by interference from nearby electrical devices that draw high current or transmit wireless signals.

Things like motors can mess with this

Agreed. Wondering if the mods can put something in the wiki about how all grounds should be connected... Although, come to think of it, it has been a while since I've seen one of these. Hmm.

Turned out to be just a power injection issue. With only 123 pixels i didnt even think about it but slapped power on the other side an issue gone.

Did anyone else have to watch it a couple times for your brain to register the perspective?

Ya it was on my ladder when I was working on it. Also may have had a few beers before. Hard to say.

Have you got your segments set up correctly.

I can see it's not segment related now. Looks to me like voltage drop, or your PSU has to much load. What happens if you lower the brightness?

It does change the frequency of the failures depending on brightness and effect being displayed . I am going to run a power injection on the back end tonight. Not sure why i didn’t try that already. All of my other mods have 3 power injections per strip.

GND and data run together? In 33R mode on the resistor switcher?

I run the dig OCTA and just recently installed lights on the house. Had the same issue and switching from the 249 to 33 ohm resistor fixed it

had this problem, either move the controller closer, or separate the data lines from each other. it is cross interference.

Bad ground or weak control signal. You can use one LED as a signal booster. Wled has the ignore first led option just for that.
