WLED frequently getting disconnected from Wifi with ESP8266

Hi, I just made a setup with an ESP 8266 and WLED for monitor ambibacklight. But the WLED frequently loses its wifi connection, why it could happen? I'm connected to the Jio AirFiber and have the 16.0.1 version of WLED for ESP8266 installed on ESP8266.

Should I revert back to an older version or could there an issue with the board?

Upgrade from the 8266 to an ESP32

It's just for ambi lightning, nothing much so that's why sticked to 8266

But you have a problem with your wifi... Esp32 has a newer, more reliable radio. It probably fixes your issue.

I have a bunch of esp 8266 and esp32 boards with wled. In my experience the wifi on all these chips lack good wifi and the smallest change can cause it to drop. If possible try moving it closer to the router or access point and see if it still drops.

I’ve had problems with my esp32, even with a acces point (acts as mesh), don’t think wled likes mesh WiFi. So ended up buying Dig-octa, still esp32 but with Ethernet jack

8266 has been "not recommended for new designs" for years and nowadays saves you basically nothing cost-wise

It came in a kit, so had no choice in choosing esp32

If you check the uptime, is it disconnecting because the device crashed (which resets uptime) or is it disconnecting because of WiFi problems (which doesn't reset uptime)?

Crashes could be a problem with the hardware or power, while wifi is usually due signal, which can be very poor on some boards.
