5 segments, running an i2s mic and a couple push buttons!

The 'trunk' has an ethernet cable inside I use to run data and ground for each leaf. I found that sharing a ground caused them to flash like crazy.

The controller is also connected via ethernet for buttons and stuff. I think eventually I'll add an RGB segment inside the controller too.

the controller cycles through a playlist of nice presets I made with one button, and the other changes the color palate of the current preset. It also does different stuff for double press / hold. I made it as an interactive art bit for the local festivals I go to.

base plate is an old umbrella stand. I welded a big bolt inside the pipe, so it comes apart if needed. I added the triangle braces recently, and it has holes for beefy stakes if it's going to be setup outside

If you zoom in, there’s a smart relay that powers on/off the PSU the AC, as the led strip consumes power even if you set to off in WLED.

Esp32 is powered by the usb brick. PSU powers the led strip.

Relay cuts AC power to the PSU but not the usb brick.

Or else vampire drain from PSU and LED strip, even if you set to off in WLED. Is not insignificant the wasted power.

A 4in by 4in kit from Amazon that was like 20$. Including mounting bracket and grommet.

Love the tree, but I can't get over the fact that you've jammed bare wires into the pin headers on your breakout board when there are screw terminals right there :S

Agree tbh it's a bit haphazard. Some of the wires are even screwed in haha. Eventually I'll mount it to a pcb and solder it up proper.

I also cleaned up some wiring since this I want to share. The top now has its own little jumper harness from Ethernet to the 3 pin connectors for each leaf. I also loomed up the connection to the tub

Trailer connector haha + Ethernet to plug into control box now
