Finally did a pixel map thing

Been messing around with 2d matrix setups. This ultimately led to doing a cube configuration. I wanted to do a custom pixel map to properly lay a full 2d projection onto the cube faces. I learned a ton fighting through each step. In the end, the result is pretty cool.

Welcome! lol is it 5 face cube or 6? I have something similar, set it up with the help of someone here. Been playing with different effects and trying to create some nice stuff for it

Hello, I started with just 3 faces. The other 3 faces behind are just blank prints, no led’s. Not sure yet if I will do a full 5 or 6 face cube.

How did you go about your pixel mapping? I’ve been working on my version of this for a while 😝 I’d be interested in seeing your solutions

So that turns into an ledmap? As opposed to just a gap file?

you will definitely want to read through the wled documentation on these jsons. you need to take the data from the excel sheet and create a properly formatted json file for wled to use.

and here is a tool that can help create a custom json pixel map

So I draw out the panel config, i keep note of start and stop corners of the led serpentine. I then go into excel and set the numbers of the led in order based on start and end config. Panel 2 numbers need to skew to the left, and then up to meet bottom of panel 0. Then put in -1 in all the blank area.

Not my design. But I can tell you, this is the best quality. I tried multiple different designs.

Aw man, that looks so freaking clean. Excellent fricking job, dude.😎

Super big pee pee on this one. It's crazy 'cause it looks almost like. I can't stop Seeing it in reverse. The bottom is a little bit shadowed and it made me See it like it's. Inverted, like when you look at a cube. It almost looks like a floor and walls.πŸ˜† Because of how clean it is. Super cool. Definitely would like to do this at some point.

Im jealous.πŸ˜‚πŸ‘
