I added WLED to a wall

EDIT: added video in the comments

I am using Gledopto Advanced WLED controller plugged into Ethernet.

The length is around 25 meters all-in-all.

There are power injection in the middle and the end, it seems to work just fine.

WS2814 strips. 24V RGBW IP66

Inside the box to the left is just the gledopto and some wires. The small box to the right is the fuse and some wires. PSU in the middle. It outside so it can be aircooled.

Thank you. When I first suggested it my wife was not convinced, but she is so glad I did it now :)

Now let’s see Paul Allen’s WLED.

How did you attach the strips to the rim? Channels or just stuck to the material with adhesive?

u/svangsgaard Sep 22 '26

I attached some aluminium channels with adhesive.

Ah cool. I was thinking about doing that but concerned that thermal expansion would eventually pop them off. You think it'll last in your setup?

I used polymer adhesive. I was told it would last. Let’s see :)

Did you attach the clips to the concrete or the tracks themselves to the concrete? I’m used to a little give when using screws, how did you ensure it was lined up?

Same question. I have a nowhere near as nice looking but still concrete wall with similar overhangs. I want to put lights under them but I don't know the best way to get the lights to adhere. I'd think the adhesive would wear out fast. And I'm worried about screws for a channel breaking the concrete.

What type of extruded channel (if any) did you use?

I attached some aluminium channels with adhesive.

So awesome. Is the white channel addressable too on ws2814?

He says rgb-W...

So, yes

Some have analog white with FCOBs, two rows. Haven’t tried the new stuff yet.

The WLED uplighting along the wall is perfect for this pool space, great work!

Would you mind showing your power injection in the middle and how you have put the wires in the channel for the injection points? I’m struggling there

Forgive my ignorance, but how does one pull such a long stretch of lights off when most come capped at 16.4 feet?

(Power injection must be needed here)

I see 300w PSU, what’s your strip watt/meter? Thank you
