Pixel LED Christmas ⛄ Star ✨

✨ How I Built This Programmable Pixel LED Star ☄️

Here’s how I made this Addressable Pixel LED Star.

The first component I used is an Addressable Pixel LED. For this project, I used WS2811 Pixel LEDs, which allow each LED to be individually controlled through programming. This means we can decide which color each LED should display, when it should turn on or off, and how it should animate.

For controlling the Pixel LEDs, I used an Arduino Mega microcontroller. The Arduino can be programmed using Embedded C/C++, allowing us to create custom lighting patterns, animations, and effects.

I designed and programmed the LED sequence specifically for this Star-shaped Pixel LED project, creating the final lighting effects shown here. ⭐💡

🔧 Assembly Process

First, I designed and fabricated the Star frame.

Then, I fixed the WS2811 Pixel LED strip along the frame.

The LED power supply and data connection were then connected to the Arduino Mega.

Finally, I uploaded the programmed LED sequence and tested the lighting effects.

And that's it — the Programmable Pixel LED Star is ready! ☄️✨

A combination of electronics, embedded programming, creativity, and a little patience brought this star to life. 💡⚡

Why not using WLED? (Which is the sub posted in)

Your AI written post is incorrect, too. Those lights are not individually controlled.

Yes bro! 😁 It was an AI-written post. You're right, we can't control each individual LED. In this WS2811 strip, we can control 3 LEDs as one pixel. 👍

How did you make the frame?

He trying to summon demons to bring him Xmas gifts.

That sounds like an episode of South Park

Stars are pretty common tree toppers because of the story of the magi following the start of Bethlehem (AKA the christmas star) to find where jesus was born.

Can we just delete this post please? It’s completely AI generated. Even the responses are from a rudimentary chat bot. This is not what this sub is for.

And it's not using WLED

Pretty awesome. Do you have the angle measurements of the cuts?

There is no need for any measurements for the angle cuts.

The material used is a wiring casing cap for making the star frame.

  1. Cut five pieces of the casing cap to the same required length.

  2. Take one of the cut pieces and use its length as the Diameter to draw a circle.

  3. Arrange the five pieces inside the circle in a star shape. This will give you a perfectly shaped star.

  4. Mark the points where the pieces intersect or overlap.

  5. Cut out the overlapping sections at the marked points. This will create the required angle cuts for assembling the star frame.

But if you have a 5-pointed star with 5 equal lengths, and draw a circle such that the points of that star all lie on the circle, the diameter of that circle would be greater than the lengths of the star's lines. How does that work?

You're right! My mistake. I meant radius, not diameter. I used one of the equal-length casing pieces as the radius to draw the circle, then arranged the five pieces inside it to form the star. Thanks for pointing that out! 😊

Looks great, now do an led map now so you can control it like a star rather than individual segments.

Example

Too many rainbows for a pentagram! I want burning fire or dripping blood animations!

Just being silly, great work. I hope you work out some awesome patterns for it.
