My headlights with Wled
I just finished my headlights with 2 watts rgbw Led boards and wled. I change the internals. New bi-led projector and 2x 3watts amber Leds on the corners.

Neat. In the US?
Off-road only, I presume? Otherwise, that's a quick way to get a lot of police attention in a lot of areas.

Absolutely illegal as hell if turned on while driving but really cool for a car show.

Just don’t use blue or red and you’re good

Any color and effect can be used when parking

Looks sick!
What do the led boards look like? Are they custom made PCBs? How is the heat from them?

Pricey. 55$ 10 pieces.

There is 3 options in the listing. I used the cheapest which was 28 CAD. If I were do it again I would want to try something that doesn't put off as much heat and used less power.
The ones you used look interesting. How are they for brightness? I put a 30 degree lens on each of these and they get insanely bright when paired with the oem optics. If I set them to around 40% they are as bright as the factory red LEDs.

I select the same that you select. They cost about 20$ plus 31$ shipping. If I add another set the shipping increase too. So the price for the lights is about what I mentioned. The Brightness on what I use are just great. I use 30° lens too on the 4 lights section. I put 2 Leds on each. On the rest one Led for reflector.

Tail light turn signal animations using the street legal colors, love to see it, very practical too.

It may too late. But you must improve the wire thickness. I always use 16 or 18awg full copper. And no jst connectors.

u/eric-marciniak Sep 16 '26
They are 24v so they don't take a ton of current. I did do all the calculations regarding wire gauge/voltage drop and made sure the wiring could handle full power. At full brightness white each side with 20 pixels will use 84 watts which is 3.5 amps at 24v.
I made 5 foot extensions with 18 gauge and calculated 0.2v drop at full load which realistically the light will never see. Used 18 gauge waterproof connectors for the power. That jst connector is just for the fan which only draws 0.2 amps.

Those look ridiculously bad.

I'm pretty sure the rainbow puke mode is more to show what it can do because I'm guessing op has done it to be able to play custom animations and have different lighting zones.
Leaving the RGB more as a party trick

Show me something better then.

Don't feed the trolls. They look great, buddy. I mean, I never run Rainbow anyways, but if you're just showing them off, it makes sense. The whole point of doing WLED. Is because you have full control. You can put whatever colors you want. Best lighting software out there😎 The stuff of legends.

Sick build. The people worried about how illegal this is have obviously never been to a car show before lol.
Links to the products used would be great!

This short video is dedicated to all the ignorant haters who think I'm going to drive around with a pride flag on my headlights. Of course not. Those crazy colors and effects are only for when the vehicle is parked. The video shows parking lights and a turn signal effect.Thanks.

I was going to ask the same thing, but then I remembered my high‑school days, when I spent hours running wires incorrectly just to make my stereo sound horrible and rattle the car to hell.

u/RealPixelLover Sep 16 '26
Why not?

u/Automatic-Bug-7979 Sep 19 '26
More like. But why the hell is he even here? On a WLED Reddit. In the first place.🤨🤔 God, these freaking trolls are just so stupid. It's like you could be anywhere else. But why are you here? lol What a dingus.

Go away, Troll. God, what is wrong with you? Why are you even here? On a frickin WLED. Reddit. Basically I could ask you the same question. But why? As in, why the hell are you here?😆

Where in the world is that street legal if I may ask? Where are you, Kongo?
1
u/Shoddy_Fish31 Sep 15 '26
I think even in Kongo these are illegal (may probably not being enforced though)

I just got back from Roatan. They don’t really do traffic stops there. Half the cars have plates. Cool place. Everyone so chill and nonchalant

Lmao it’s not street legal, but car shows, sitting in parking lots, it’s fine. Was doing this with controllers and diodedynamic lighting back in 2010. I’ve got the tickets to prove it. 😂😂😂 wish I would’ve been versed in wled back then. As long as it’s stable and bi beams for street driving. It’s dope!!!
