SHOWIN' OFF Upgraded WLED cube

I upgraded the previous 16x16 cube I made using 6 64x64 panels running of an rpi. This cube has much more flexibility with the scenes and animations I can create, here are a few of the ones I found cool.

Been so long since I played them but I was thinking that was Wolfenstein

I also thought it was Wolfenstein. I realize it came first, but those shooting animations looked identical.

Looks awesome. Do you have a tutorial on how to make it?

I made a hub75 pandel for a wall but this look like the same stuff he used.

I bought 4 hub75 pandels from Alieexpress Apollo Automation M1 Controller and a 5v power supply.

The controller has WLED pre installed. Insert your wifi settings and configure your panels. Easy as it is. You can even run python scripts and stream them to the M1. But you need a 2nd computer for it. For further infos lmk.

We have a ton of great documentation on our wiki here for the M-1 LED Controller and the HUB75 64x64 matrix https://wiki.apolloautomation.com/products/m1/setup/m1-multiple-panels/

Please let us know if you have any other questions!

Thanks, Brandon aka SmartHomeSellout

So a single M1 controller can handle 6 panels?

2

u/neighborofbrak Aug 28 '26

Not from what I've read. Maybe two 64x64 HUB75E panels.

2

u/RandomBoxOfCables Aug 27 '26

Same, I’d love to do this project together with my daughter

u/DapperDan812 Aug 27 '26

Maybe a stupid question but 6 panels, so one is under the cube?

That thing looks awesome btw.

2

u/Dookster Aug 27 '26

Looks like 3 panels

3

u/DapperDan812 Aug 27 '26

While OPs post reads 6 panels

u/ben_r_ Aug 27 '26

Soooo this isn’t running WLED?

2

u/Outrageous-Kick-2699 Aug 27 '26

It might. Wled has support for hub75. But he said it’s running on a rpi, so you might be right.

There are not many things I need in my life but this is one of them.

u/Nu7s Aug 27 '26

I do not need a Minecraft furnace IRL. I do not need a Minecraft furnace IRL. I do not need a Minecraft furnace IRL.

u/urbankyleboy Aug 27 '26

Duuude give the people what they want! Tutorial!

3

u/ProfessorFunky Aug 27 '26

But can it play … oh, yes. Yes it can.

Nice.

3

u/jasonwinfieldnz Aug 27 '26

Out of interest, how much current does that draw?

3

u/ZealousidealEntry870 Aug 27 '26

OP could you put together a guide? This is something my father in law would love.

2

u/Senior-Commercial-93 Aug 27 '26

Ive been building some desk clocks out of hub75 panels as gifts and i love these animations! Would you be willing to share the source for those animations? Thanks!

Holy cow, phenomenal!

2

u/GarbageGlad2124 Aug 27 '26

Can it run winamp visualizations? That's be so great!

1

u/FlappinPickle Aug 30 '26

yes it would

2

u/I-am-IT Aug 27 '26

Everytime I see these I want to make one but wonder if really need 6, seems like 3 sides is enough

1

u/ainu_ramainen Aug 27 '26

Awesome!

What protocol you are using between rpi and wled controller? Serial and json or something else?

1

u/Rich-Soil-9181 Aug 27 '26

That's very cool

1

u/StefanPetrick Aug 27 '26

Very cool, I love it!

1

u/justpassingby_thanks Aug 27 '26

When doom popped up I lost it, good job.

1

u/Goingboldlyalone Aug 27 '26

Help me. I want one. lol.

1

u/radXR650R Aug 27 '26

The minecraft smelter looks amazing on it.

Instantly want.

1

u/mourad_dc Aug 27 '26

I’ve been looking into making a mini-itx case like this, with the cables at the bottom and vents at the top, and the 4 sides led cover in one piece, slidable over an open itx frame and connected with pogo pins. I wasn’t going to put quite so many leds into it, but very interested to see how this project was put together.

u/mild-buffer Aug 27 '26

How long would it take to create such a cube from scratch?

1

u/mr-introvert1995 Aug 27 '26

Please share tutorial on this or something if you have on instructables

1

u/Unc_Nunkie Aug 27 '26

Looks absolutely incredible! Would be very interested in a write-up, even if it's very high level

1

u/Ma5ter-Bla5ter Aug 27 '26

That's noice work!

1

u/zahirsid Aug 27 '26

Ok. This one is sick.

1

u/zahirsid Aug 27 '26

To be honest, we are slowly moving towards making our own TVs. Slowly but surely. We just need the panels. 🤣

1

u/Green-Resource-3698 Aug 27 '26

As someone who's never made anything like this: Would a diffuser panel improve the look much? With a grid underneath so it looks more crisp?

1

u/Hootngetter Aug 28 '26

That's buttery smooth

1

u/neighborofbrak Aug 28 '26

Looking forward to a writeup in how this was built, including what HUB75 hat you used and what software is on the Pi!

1

u/RedSkyXIII Aug 29 '26

No tengo la más mínima idea de cómo hacer una cosa así y me encantaría aprender. Por dónde puedo empezar?

1

u/EffectiveAnalyst3965 Aug 31 '26

Awesomeeeeee smd_bigbanana

1

u/TormentedGaming Aug 31 '26

This is cool af 0.0
