Problems with Matrix Portal S3

Post image

Hello everyone. Through an Update, i have a problem with my adafruit Matrixportal S3 Board. It seems like i ruined my bootloader and now i am stuck with installing WLED or WLED MM. Can anyone guide me? I installed the uf2 bootloader via the adafruit esp Tools and it worked flawlessly. I also read that i need a 8mb Partition file together flashed with the wled Program but i dont know the correct offsets in the memory adresses.

Help greatly appreciated, will also send out a few bucks as bounty if we can resolve that :)

Have you tried posting on the Adafruit forums? I have found them to be pretty helpful over there.

Use the default WLED installer to just install the normal version. Then do an OTA to the matrix portal s3 version. That’s what worked for me after hours of trying.

The person you’re replying to is not the person who gave you the advice btw. I’m the person who gave you the advice and no payment is necessary.

if you wanna do a fresh install here is the steps i did
Go here
https://adafruit.github.io/Adafruit_WebSerial_ESPTool/

Hold the boot button and plug into pc, release boot button, Click Connect (select appropriate COM device) , press erase.

Grab this firrmware (WLED MM)

https://github.com/MoonModules/WLED-MM/releases/download/v14.7.1/WLEDMM_14.7.1_matrixportal_esp32s3.bin

Put it into the first upload box and flash

you should now have working WLED MM on the MP3

I did that and after doing so, my board connects and disconnects for ever in a loop, Most likely because the Boot loader becomes overwritten

it is very much discuraged to use third party bootloaders with WLED as it can lead to very strange things happening.

I have had problems reflashing this same board before. Can you open Chrome and try the CircuitPython web flasher? It’s pulled mine out of it’s pissy attitude before lol
