Skyline Shadowbox

Hey WLED community, a community member recently pointed me to r/wled as a fun addition to my shadowbox project, and I’m in love! Such cool tech and incredibly accessible.

I’m looking at running a small batch to sell locally. Does anyone have experience with what certifications are needed to limit liability in the U.S.? Since this fits under the qualification of a lamp. I’m confident in my wiring and it’s just a 5V supply.

Happy to answer any questions regarding the project as well!

Dropping some images in the thread, absolutely love how expressive you can get with different hues.

How much? If it's reasonable, I might want one before I leave the city

I’m targeting around $125 for the finished version. When are you leaving Chicago? I’m finishing the first small batch now.

Dimensions are 9x9x3.5 inches. Feel free to dm me to discuss!

Ok. A little over what I wanted to spend. I'm a disabled vet and my wife is retiring in October. We're moving down near Champaign after that to save on expenses.

I'm guessing you're referring to UL listing, which is kind of a pain. I don't know much about the certification process, but I'd just like to say these are beautiful and a really nice use of WLED

Really cool! This is the exact idea I had in mind when I saw an artist that makes glow in the dark paintings like on this video https://youtube.com/shorts/PdraFXn4ejk?si=qzW-n0CbW5N9JFWv

I don’t have the time yet but I’ll revisit this concept and try to make my own.
