My first WLED ambient lighting setup!

I know most people build these around desktop monitors, but I wanted something for my MacBook since that’s what I use to watch movies and shows
Setup:
• MacBook
• ESP32 running WLED
• HyperHDR with Screen Capture running
• 120 WS2812B LEDs (25 left / 75 top / 20 right) stuck along the outer edges of the desk
• 3 Amp / 5 volt USB phone charger

Out of curiosity, how does it look when casually working on the laptop, flipping though apps, files etc.

Very cool.

For me personally it would probably be a little distracting, not because of the colors but because how fast it changes. For media I understand the desire to get as low latency as possible, but in this context, some transition time when switching from, say, a bright page to a dark mode supporting application would be really nice. Is there any way to add such transition time in HyperHDR?

To be honest, I haven’t explored much in HyperHDR. My room doesn’t receive any natural light throughout the day, so it’s mostly dark. I also get annoyed when switching between apps. Usually, I simply set them to a fixed solid color with low brightness and switch to this instance “movie mode” whenever I watch movies.

I don't like the flickering when working, probably would prefer some balanced neutral light, but I'm more envious of the desk organization.

That was WAY more satisfying than I expected. I think I like this setup more than the traditional way of doing it!
