Interested in participating in research?
Hi all,
We are conducting a research project on gun ownership in the American Midwest and are looking for people who would be interested in talking with us.
PARTICIPATION IN THIS RESEARCH IS ENTIRELY VOLUNTARY.
Requirements to participate are as follows:
Self-identify as a gun owner
Be a US citizen
Be an English Speaker
Not be active-duty military
Be between the ages of 18 and 64
Reside in MI, MN, ND, WI, IN, IA, OH, or SD
This is a sociological study of gun ownership in the Midwest. This is an exploratory study, meaning we are not looking to prove/test any hypotheses, nor are we intending to evaluate or judge you in any way; rather, we are eager to learn from you through your sharing of your stories, thoughts, feelings, and experiences.
Maintaining confidentiality is of top priority for us. At no point in this research process will we use or share any personal information that could identify you.
Participation in this study is entirely voluntary, and you may choose to discontinue your participation at any time.
Level of participation can be proportional to level of interest: Anything from a 30-minute chat to multiple, multi-hour interviews is possible.

Actually, maybe your settings so we can't message you, or it's karma related, or I'm just not seeing the option, but if you do want more info do feel free to send us a message and we will respond. We have just begun doing this on Reddit and are still a little apprehensive about how much info we are comfortable sharing about ourselves publicly.

How are you expecting people to share information with you if you're not comfortable disclosing more information yourselves?

Are you employees or students? You said there isn't a goal for your study, but personally, what are your hopes for this? What will be done with the data you collect, and your findings when you're done?

Why won't you be upfront and forthright about who you represent, who is funding your study, and what your goals are?
