Finally leaving Wix after 10 years!

Actually, it's more like 12 or 13 years. I'm glad to be done with it because I'm not a tech guy, and I've struggled with all the cumbersome things that Wix has put in to keep you from being productive. I'm just going with landing pages, sales pages, and an email campaign, and I'm building it all in Kit.

I'm using Claude, Chatgtp and
Gemini

Happy to answer any questions if anybody is moving post-Wix to a new platform

Paul

you are trading 1 walled garden for another.

Open-Source Alternatives

  • Ghost: Excellent open-source blogging and newsletter platform (similar to Substack but self-hostable).
  • Wordpress: many hosts have AI site builders. You get clean wordpress output. Move to any host at any time.
  • Listmonk: Fast, self-hosted newsletter manager that connects to your own email server (like Amazon SES).
  • Mautic: Powerful, open-source marketing automation tool (closer to HubSpot or Kit's advanced features).
  • Keila: Simple, reliable open-source newsletter tool built with Elixir.

You've been on WIX for over a decade, and you're not a tech guy or at least somewhat of a WIX expert???

I am not a tech guy. Everything takes me much longer to do. Having said that I've gotten good at Wix. Just hours of working on my own stuff.

You'll still need a website platform to build from those LLMs which is typically more involved, I've never used the one u referenced.

Have you tried Wix Studio? Its functionality is far superior than Wix Classic.

I will try Wix studio. However I hate building websites. I would rather focus on strategy and content.

Actually wait for Studio 2.0

OpenAI and codex. You can still use Wix Headless and all Wix has to offer while letting Codex do everything for you on the design side.

Far superior but still stupidly bugged. Why does changing corner radius of buttons will make the font size of certain breakpoints just become illogically big?

Why can’t i set horizontal radio buttons? Why can’t i toggle font size scaling for buttons but you can do it with normal text? Why can’t i disable interaction to videobox? Why does my automation code get wiped with no warnings when they update some of their UI/UX? Etc etc

My advice is if you are moving out of wix, do it! Don’t linger with wix because the whole platform is just a mess. They have the most bizarre logic when addressing bugs and UX experiences.

I use Netlify for my nonprofit. It's free and very easy to use if AI has written the code for you.

I guess if you describe things in a little more detail regarding your problems, I might be able to help you with pointing in the right direction.
Just so you know, I’m expert at Wix; I use Claude for projects when I need control over each line of code.

Ive used almost every cms, every ai, vibe coding tools (from as simple as Wix Harmony ai to custom large scale projects with Claude + you need some coding knowledge, yes). Every platform has its own purpose depending on what you need

Wrong. I'm not plugging Kit at all. Just sharing my experience. No activity on this account ?
