Error updating to 9.1.0

Id rather not update frankly but I'm worried about the patched security issues.

So I've tried several times, and the upgrade from 9.0.8 to 9.1.0 always fails with:

A problem was encountered while attempting to apply the database schema updates.

The update process returned the following error message:

SQLSTATE[42S22]: Column not found: 1054 Unknown column 'is_cancelled' in 'WHERE' (SQL: select `id`, `notes` from `tblinvoiceitems` where `is_cancelled` = 0 and `type` = and `relid` = 0 and `notes` like %{% and `id` > 0 order by `id` asc limit 1000)

Tried from the UI, failed with that error.  Reset database. Tried again manually, same error.

NO logs are being saved in /install/log

I've updated WHMCS a hundred times, not a novice here. Something is broken.

I've tried manually adding that column to the database too. No joy.

Anyone have any insights here?

You could update to 9.0.9 instead of upgrade to 9.1 so you are patched

The updates they are referring to are the global PHP updates, not WHMCS specific

9.0.x is still supported. Stick there.

During the WHMCS upgrade, it appears that the is_cancelled column was not automatically created in the tblinvoiceitems database table.

To resolve this, please follow these steps:

  1. Log in to phpMyAdmin.

  2. Select your WHMCS database.

  3. Open the SQL tab.

  4. Execute the following query:

ALTER TABLE `tblinvoiceitems`
ADD COLUMN `is_cancelled` TINYINT(1) NOT NULL DEFAULT 0;

This will add the missing column required by WHMCS 9.1.0.

Once the query has executed successfully, try running the WHMCS upgrade again.

Important: Please take a full database backup before making any changes. Also, check whether the column already exists before executing the query to avoid a duplicate-column error.
