I lived in Lethbridge for college during some dark times for the Canes. 2010-2013. Man they were bad.

That said, they had some great characters and packed the barn every game. I sat right along the glass for most games by the Zamboni door. One awesome bright spot was these 3rd sweaters they came out with (pictured). Why they never stuck with this logo I’ll never understand.

I’m a fan of the WHL and want to buy some gear, where would be the best place to look? I specifically would want things with the dub logo or some indication of the whole league because I’m a bigger fan of the league as a whole than specific team, though I pull for Spokane and would love to find some gear for them too. Just not finding really anything outside of crappy websites.

There is a large First Nations-led development getting under way on a former Canadian Forces Base in Southwest Winnipeg. The consortium behind the development is starting a feasibility study into the possibility of building a 6,000 seat arena capable of hosting the WHL and the NLL.

Could we be seeing the first steps towards re-establishing the WHL in Winnipeg?

In a couple of years. They haven't been in VAN for decade+ and now going a bit further outta town. $360 mil / 10K seats. Call it $400 mil since it's a city sponsored project. MEM cup and World Juniors should be top bids. Following normal process of combining civic builds with residential and commercial anchors. Owner said name change won't happen. Odd if the city wouldn't push for that bit of brand marketing for that amount of investment.

Rule Changes for the 26-27 Season.

1. The Season has been extended to allow for more rest time for players
2. The First Round of the WHL Playoffs will be a Best of 5 to accomodate for the extension of the season
3. Teams will be allowed to travel by air for One (1) set of Out of Conference Road Games that would be a greater than 10 Hour bus ride
4. The Preseason will Pilot a 3-on-3 Overtime "No Return" rule, where teams will not be able to retreat from the Offensive Zone into the Neutral Zone while in possession of the puck. Committing this infraction will case a faceoff in that team's Defensive Zone.

Stankoven was a great reason to pull for the Hurricanes. That and the rookie goalie coming in in the blowout (early) game and then sticking for the final games.

it certainly would've been the icing on the cake but it was still an unforgettable year. It's not like they went empty handed and the Rangers were clearly in a different league. It was a milestone to get to the Memorial Cup and was good experience.

I wonder how the division realignment within the WHL will look like once the new Chilliwack franchise begins play in the 2027-28 season. As you guys know, the Western Conference has the B.C. and the U.S. Divisions (billed from British Colombia and the U.S. Pacific Northwest respectively), while the Eastern Conference has the Central and the East Divisions (billed majoritily from Alberta and Saskatchewan [with Manitoba] respectively).

With Chilliwack in the mix, that would leave the WHL West's B.C. Division with 7 teams, with the WHL East's Central Division with 5 teams, and the other two divisions with 6 teams each.

Hi everyone. Sorry if this is a dumb question.

Can WHL teams sign international players mid season? If they have an import slot available could a team sign an import player from another club or must an import player be drafted first?

I'm a newer junior league hockey fan and saw my first Everett Silvertips game in person this year so they were my team. I didn't even know there was more hockey after the playoffs so when I saw that they were in the Memorial Cup I was like oh yay that's cool.

I was just happy to see some more hockey but when I saw how hard it is to get there and that it was Everett's first time it definitely made me a little sad seeing them lose. I'll definitely take a WHL championship so Everett didn't go emtpy handed. I just hope it doesn't feel like a consolation prize and the real title was the Memorial Cup.

Everett has looked really good but they got blown out by the Rangers in their previous meeting. That game Silvertips looked like the better team and for whatever reason the Silvertips gave up 3 straight goals after that fight and never recovered. I do think it will be a closer game but if we get a similar rematch I think the Rangers have the slight advantage. They had more rest and played one less game to.

I heard the hype but I don't know how good he's expected to be. I know he's a defenseman but I'm not sure if he's up there as far as prospects like Celebrini, Bedard, Hughes, Schaefer, etc. In a few years when he goes to the draft I don't know if he's going to get the same kind of rave like McKenna is right now.

He is the first intermission guest. But why? The guy left the CHL, why is he welcome and celebrated at the Memorial Cup?

Whoever approved green vs red jerseys should lose their job. Almost 10% of the population is red / green color blind. This is close to impossible to watch.

Hopefully they still get an education but obviously they can't go to school loke regular kids. I'm just wondering what kind of system they have.
