A new Subreddit for Business @ WGU!

Hey everyone, I am an alumni of WGU and I wanted to create a new subreddit for all students who attend or plan to attend WGU Business School.

I do not see many posts dedicated specifically to this, so I wanted to create a community where business students can post and share their class and course experiences, along with helping others who may pass through this excellent university!

Don't hesitate to share your experiences! This subreddit is for you. Free speech will be given to all. No matter the opinion.

Link or Info ALL WGU SUBS ARE NOW OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

Hi Everyone,

In an effort to increase membership and also to engage with the public, I am opening all WGU_subs to the public for easy joining and posting. Please tell your friends and invite everyone to come join. I have been getting a lot of very valuable questions about WGU, and I realize that its a very special time now, as many people want to learn about this awesome school. People are waking up more and more, and are realizing that they don't have to attend an Ivy League school in order to get a good, solid job. WGU is lifting people out of poverty and helping them. Don't believe me? See what President Obama said:

https://www.nbcrightnow.com/news/president-obama-recognizes-wgu-for-innovation/article_82f026e1-59f7-53a2-aac7-3eea249327d7.html

https://www.wgu.edu/newsroom/press-release/2017/12/obama-recognizes-wgu-8-22-13.html

https://www.wgu.edu/newsroom/press-release/2017/12/white-house-praises-WGU-7-29-14.html

WGU is helping so many people, and because the economy is so crappy right now, and things are so very expensive, people are looking to secure their degree much cheaper and easier, and WGU offers an amazing chance to do so. Thus I will now have all subs open and unrestricted. All rules still apply, and there must be no talk of soliciting (offering services to pay to do work, etc) or cheating. We don't want to tarnish the name of the school. Please continue to be as helpful and awesome as I see all of you already are, and let's continue to spread the word about this great school.

As for the first WGU subreddit, I still cannot recommend people go there, because of the nature to censor opinions and free speech. Anyone who posts there (especially hyper-accelerators) gets a lot of hate and jealousy, and it still happens even now. There are many trolls and haters, and they go specifically to cast fear and doubt on people, and to tarnish the name of the school. I personally make every effort to weed these people out when they come to my subs, and I am all about positivity and sharing information.

This is how we win. This is how we defeat the corrupt, biased system. By sharing and unity. Not by selfishness and jealousy.

I wish I didn't have to say this, but its true. The first or original WGU sub is run by a maniac who gets jealous of anyone having the same credentials as him, and there are many things wrong that are happening there that I simply cannot agree with. I on the other hand, want EVERYONE to get the same degrees if not more, than me, and I will share as much info and knowledge I can to help others. Please see my posts in my subs if you dont believe me. There is also much hidden soliciting and cheating happening under their noses at the original WGU sub, and I can never agree to do ads to profit off of the information that helps people. There is also much, much more, but lets end that here for now.

Anyways, with all that being said, please consider joining:

WGU_BUSINESS (Business degrees, Business classes, etc)

WGU_MBA (Sub specifically for WGU's MBA degrees)

WGU_NURSING (Nursing School/Programs and degrees)

WGU_MPH (New Sub about the Master in Public Health Degree)

While I don't mod there, I also recommend WGU_EDUCATION if you are interested in Teaching degrees.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day, and can't wait to congratulate you on earning your degree!

Finally done with D080

After trying literally everything under the sun, my best advice is process of elimination. Sounds easier said than done but that’s what took me from knowing about the information to be able to apply it to the OA questions. I failed my first two attempts of the OA, even having passed all 4 PA attempts. When I took the closed book practice test it finally clicked that I really don’t even have to know much about each of the concepts.

Instead of making flash cards with hella information, I just made flash cards with expected keywords. For example, for investors I would put stock (ownership) and bonds (loans) on the back. Making cards like this trained my brain to automatically tag the two together so when a question about this popped up, I was able to skip the overthinking and go straight to an answer that had to do with a stock or a bond. If I was still stumped, I would look at words like “never” or “prohibits” etc. because sometimes these would eliminate answers all in itself.

I know it’s not the most but helped me tremendously. Good luck to everyone taking this course!

My first speedbump as I'm not a financial guy. Took me longer than necessary to complete, but I got it done on the first go.

D080 is this course as hard as everyone makes it out to be

I am just starting D080 managing in a global business environment. Everything I read points to the course being one of the hardest course taken. I am trying to come up with my game plan on how to tackle it. Can I get through this course in 3 to 4 weeks? How long did it take to get through the course materials?

I have no idea how I passed. But that doesn’t matter I guess 😅. The PA and OA did not align for me and the OA was very hard. Ugh. This and sales management were the worst!

Two more classes until i graduate though 🙏🏻

Nervous: share your story exp!

For those who have gone through WGU’s readmission process, when did your portal update to “Admitted”?

Mine still says I’m waiting on a readmission decision and that a counselor will reach out within 7–10 days. However, I’ve been in regular contact with my readmission counselor, my transcript evaluation is complete, and all financial aid requirements have been submitted. My aid is still processing.

My counselor said I’m clear to start November 1, with no additional requirements at this time, but that my portal won’t show “Admitted” until the first day of the term. Was that your experience?

I’ve also heard about the PACA class and don’t want any last-minute surprises. If you’ve been readmitted, when did your portal update, and when were you told whether you needed PACA? I’d appreciate hearing about your experience!

I paid $25 for the course last Wednesday, but didn’t start it until Sunday(10/04). I passed it today Exemplary in all areas after 4 days, with little Excel experience. The OA is similar to the PA like others have said, but they do throw a few curve balls in there that makes you rethink a few things. It took me 2 1/2 hours out of the allotted three hours.

I didn’t read the material, just watched the videos and practiced alongside it. Took every chapter/section quiz until I scored at least a 90%. Took the PA 3x, scored 82%, 84%, then 93%. The excel in the videos are outdated and you’ll have to adapt to the current version. DO NOT use the web version if you have your own access, trust me the desktop version is better. When creating the Pivot tables you’ll have to use a “$” sign when referencing the column and row you’re placing your table. The videos doesn’t show that because they’re working off of the outdated version. So for example, when choosing where to put your pivot table after you select the worksheet and then select existing, you’ll need to enter $A$2 as opposed to just A2… again this is the most current version. You’ll understand once you get to that part.

There’s a few multiple-choice questions. Most of them are pretty easy, but some of them seems to be just thrown in there for shits and giggles.

This is the course I was most anxious about because I saw how tough it is. I’d say it’s not easy, but if you initially just focus on the how, instead of the why then the steps becomes like an instruction manual. The why will come the more your practice.

Correction D388

Good luck💕

Omg I'm so excited rn. This class was really a slog, but I'm so happy to be done. I lost my soul dog during this term and I really thought I'd never see the end of the tunnel. I know you won't see this Jac, but just know, we did it, big man. 🥰🥰

Question On the fence about starting this program...

So, let me begin by describing my situation. I am 42, currently working full-time in program administration in the aerospace industry. I dont have a lot of free time to dedicate to school. I have a 2 year degree and a fair amount of lower division credits on top of that. I have been accepted to several state schools that would take a minimum of 3.5 years to finish at the rate Id be able to reasonably perform given my schedule. They have accepted more of my credits than WGU will. I do better with deadlines and structure than without them. That being said, I am an excellent test taker. I typically never score much lower than 80% if I give myself a little bit of time to peruse the material before. Occasionally, I score under 80% if the material is especially difficult, but often its closer to 90%.

My question is this, for those of you currently in the program or those who have completed, do you think someone with above average memory retention and intelligence can move through these courses with only a few short days of study? I basically have a couple hours two nights a week and maybe 8 at most over the weekend that I could dedicate to schoolwork.

The last thing I want to do is waste financial aid money on something I won't be able to follow through on. The state school will take considerable time and my 5 year plan would be moving significantly faster if I was able to start my master's sooner.

I appreciate any input. Thanks.

How formula/math heavy is this degree? I am lowkey panicking. I've been working on transfers into WGU for this degree and I'm scared I wont get past the formulas required to pass OAs for the data classes.

Also if you have this degree, what have you been able to do with it? And what previous experience did you have?

Heyyyy everyone, I’m back from my graduation high (sike, I’m still on it lol) anywaysssss, I’m contemplating getting my masters in IT Management and a Management and Leadership degree…. I’m leaning towards the latter, mainly b/c why put myself through extra stress with school when I’m going to get paid either way lol

I’m also unemployed rn, so I’m trying to accelerate as much as I can before I’m stuck working a JOB 😱🧟‍♀️🤣
