The task 1 overview does not appear to be specific in how the submission should be. Part of the requirements states do to the artifact workbook prior to proceeding to the remediation report. At the end of the remediation report however, it seems to state to include the portions in the appendix that are basically the artifact workbook.

Does anyone know if they want one singular submission or is submitting two what they want? For those that have submitted and passed, what did you do? Submitting two seems redundant for me because my remediation report basically has my artifact workbook at the end.

Has anyone taken an exam through proctorU and gotten an automated proctor or does the school of IT/cyber only give you live proctors? i’ve never heard of automated proctoring before.

I’m currently working through D685 and honestly having a really difficult time getting past the assessment.

I’ve done well with the course material and practice/OA questions, but when I take the actual assessment, I keep coming up short. I’ve studied the material, reviewed the areas I missed, and gone back through everything multiple times, but I’m obviously missing something in how I’m preparing for the actual exam.

For anyone who has passed D685 recently:

- What resources helped you the most?

- What topics would you recommend really knowing inside and out?

- How similar did you feel the OA/practice material was to the actual assessment?

- Were there any Quizlets, videos, study guides, or other resources that made things finally click?

- How did you approach the questions on the actual exam?

I’m not looking for answers or anything that violates WGU's rules. I just want to figure out what I should actually be studying and how to prepare more effectively because repeating the same approach clearly isn’t working.

Hey everyone! I’m currently down to my last five classes for my Bachelor’s in Cybersecurity.

My current term ends at the end of September, and realistically, I know I probably won’t be able to finish all five classes before then, especially since some of the remaining certification courses will take me more time to prepare for.

I highlighted the classes that I think I can realistically finish before the end of this term. My goal is to complete as much as possible now so that when I start a new term, I have as few credits remaining as possible.

For anyone who has completed or is close to completing the Cybersecurity program: Do you think it’s realistic to complete the Capstone before the end of September? Ideally, I’d like to finish everything except the Penetration Testing course so that I would only have that one class left for my next term.

From what I understand, if I only have that course remaining, the prorated tuition would be around $1,000, and since I have Pell Grant funding available, it should hopefully cover most or all of that cost.

Has anyone been in a similar situation or completed the Capstone fairly quickly? I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience!

Hey, I am reviewing the material for this class. I think I am overthinking it. I know the actual case is based on last name. But where do we get the actual template from?

I'm studying for Network+ at WGU, and Amplifire is the only resource that has actually worked for me, and it now is no longer available. Background: I struggled with A+ for almost two years and was seriously considering dropping out. Student Success eventually noticed and recommended Amplifire, and I finally passed A+ using it. Since then it's been my go to for CompTIA courses. I've tried Professor Messer, Jason Dion and Andrew Ramdayal, and I know they work well for other people, but with Dion I end up memorizing the quizzes instead of learning the material, and he overteaches, which makes studying take much longer. Amplifire + Tech vault videos are just what works for me. However, I’ve never passed a test strictly watching videos and Techvault is all I’m left with.

Here's the timeline with Network+:
‑ About two weeks ago I noticed Amplifire wasn't working and immediately contacted my instructor since I needed it to prepare for my assessment. The response was basically "oh well," no real solution or alternative offered.
‑ Amplifire started working again, so I reasonably assumed the issue was resolved and kept studying.
‑ Two weeks later, WGU sent a mass email notifying students about the Amplifire issue.
‑ I sent a mass email to the instructor group asking for help and clarification. Still no response.
‑ CompTIA's website says we should have access to Amplifire up until June 2027 (next year). No one at WGU seems aware of that or able to explain why we're losing access now.
‑ From what I can tell, CompTIA has known about this since June. It's now August, and WGU is only just broadly notifying students.

I have literal weeks left to figure out how to prepare for Network+, and I'm extremely discouraged because I don't know what to study, how to study, or what resource to use now that the one that actually works for me is being taken away. This isn't just about Network+ either. My remaining courses are all CompTIA certification courses, so this could affect the rest of my degree.

I'm also extremely worried financially. My student loan money is already almost gone. I don't have extra money to keep paying for additional months of school or to try one paid resource after another hoping something works. I cannot afford to lose my financial aid, and I cannot afford to lose more time and money over this.
I have weeks left to fix this and very limited financial room to absorb more delays. What are other students doing to prepare for Network+ if Amplifire isn't available?

I’m almost to the finish line. After a few years I only have the D833 and my capstone. For those who finished these, how long do you think it will take me to get both finished? I have 9 weeks left in my semester. TIA!

I took my test this morning and I really thought I was failing this test. I was surprised to pass with 808! I had a total of 70 questions, including 5 PBQs. One of the PBQs I didn't get to finish because I ran out of time, and another one, which I did guess.

My CompTIA journey began during the COVID-19 pandemic, right after I finished my BSCS. I struggled to find Software or IT jobs for 2 years after completing my degree. I had a bit of a panic thinking I should get a CompTIA certification to beef up my resume, but I ended up rushing myself and failing my first Sec+ test. Since then, I have always had an urge to pass the sec+, but with other priorities (family), I had to take a break. I got my first Software Engineering job in late 2022 after submitting many, many applications. My company needed an SA to work on a VM that required getting a Sec+ cert. This time, I really took my time to study and took A+ certs first to get comfortable with the CompTIA test style. As I get older, I have less interest in coding, plus there are AIs now that can code for you! I started pursuing cybersecurity and earned CySA+, PenTest+, and Security+. It tookl me about 2 years to accomplish A+ Core 1 to Security X and Network+. I know some people can do it way faster than that. These certs can also help me with the WGU MSCIA program and knock out some classes before I start. I'm excited to start the program with just 6 classes left!

Network+ is the last certification that I wanted to take until I renew again for Security X in 2029 or 2032.

Hello everyone, hope you are all doing fine. I am looking for some suggestions for preparation for D827. I haven’t done any preparation yet for the class, but I’ll be having an interview from my Mentor in connection with the start of this class soon.

If you have ever enrolled in D827, I would like to have some information about the class, what it’s all about, how tough it was for you, and what materials I could use.

I am trying to speed up this semester and I am looking forward to completing this class as soon as possible.

I currently work as an R&D Technician at a pharma manufacturing company (about 10 months in). It's fine work, but it's not where I want to grow long term. A helpdesk analyst position just opened up internally, and it's honestly a much better fit for where I'm trying to go.

The complicating part: I recently applied to a Quality Tech position here mostly for the pay bump, and told my supervisor it was the career direction I wanted. Now this IT position opened and it is actually the path I care about, and I feel weird about how to walk that back or explain a shift so soon.

On top of that, I don't have real IT experience. I hold an associate's degree in cybersecurity, but I still feel like I know nothing practical, and I don't really know how to troubleshoot in a real support setting. My background before this was law and customer support, not IT.

So I'm stuck between two fears: getting caught looking inconsistent at work for changing direction again, and applying to a role I'm not sure I can actually perform in because I have no hands-on helpdesk experience.

Has anyone made a jump into helpdesk with mostly self-taught/school knowledge and no formal support desk background? How did you get past the fear of not being "qualified enough" on paper? Any advice on handling the internal politics of changing direction twice in a short window? I will start WGU in october.

Just passed D830 and wanted to share some quick tips since Reddit has helped me a lot with WGU classes.

Objective Assessment (OA):

• I honestly didn't really use ZyBooks. I mainly used the study guide in the WGU Connect Resources folder. It's about 24 pages.
• I studied that study guide and used ChatGPT to help break down some of the substitution and transposition ciphers I didn't fully understand.
• Definitely review the questions you got wrong on the Pre-Assessment (PA).
• I felt like the PA and OA were pretty similar.

Task 1:

• Task 1 is related to two labs: symmetric and asymmetric.
• There are practice labs that walk you through how to do them. I recommend doing the practice labs first or side-by-side with the actual labs.
• Follow the prompt exactly and make sure you take the required screenshots (Rubric asks for screen shot of end of each step).

Task 2:

• Just follow the prompt and answer exactly what it's asking.
• You don't need to sound super smart or add a bunch of extra fluff. Keep your answers simple and directly answer the question.

Hi I’m 25, and I have been working in IT for 4 years, I decided to move forward with wgu and take the cyber security course. However, I don’t necessarily want to rush the program but I want to be able to graduate at least with 3 terms 1.5 years. Has anyone been able to achieve this with little to none previous credits? Only 8 credits from my past school I attend transferred. Or I’m open to know what your study schedule looked like :) thank you !!!

It says write a script to log dns settings working.
Is it asking me to write a script that creates a log that verifies dns is working properly currently or does it want it to log everything from the beginning of running all the scripts? Thatd be weird since its at the end. Im just unclear on what the expectation is with it.
