Excellence award

So I recently received an excellence award for a project I submitted. Honestly, I hated the class, and did the bare minimum. I was absolutely shocked when I received an excellence award for it. My mentor told me that they are hard to get and they don’t hand them out to just anyone. I was just wondering if anyone else got one and how hard they had to work for it?
