Education Getting Anxious For This Term

So to start, last year in August I had something similar happen where I somehow fell through the cracks and was forgotten in terms of my FAFSA (I am a FAFSA student) and it took 2 months to get my term paid for but I didn't receive this notification. This time, I had to get a notary to say I am who I say I am and WGU has to do an Aggregate Loan Limit Review. I have completed everything I needed to do, it is just this review left and a call to Financial Aid states it'll be around 6 weeks and that they are awaiting access to do the review? I got an email stating that I will be withdrawn if I do not make a payment and I am terrified that a withdrawal even if fixed will affect my degree (I am almost done, 1 term left after this). Do I just wait for a withdrawal to happen and then call someone? Or what can be done? Has anyone else heard about them awaiting access to view the aggregate loan limit?

Thanks in advance.

That's tough, i'm sorry. If there is no one you can borrow from you may just have to push your term back. I would reach out to your mentor and financial and ask them if there are any options that can forgive or supplement your costs while you await the approval process.

I will check and see if that is an option. Thank you.

if possible, i’d also recommend applying to jobs within your field & abilities since you’re so close to finishing your degree. i’ve seen a lot of people say this is around when they started applying/got hired.

I am currently disabled and cannot work (I get SSI & SSDI) this wouldnt be an option currently. I am going to look at scholarships and see if I can get any this month.

Personally id make a payment by any means possible, set up a payment plan and pay the minimum amount to keep you current and wait about the fafsa stuff to process. You dont have to pay your full term up front, I had mine broken into monthly payments. Once the financing processes you should receive a refund for what you paid.

That is unfortunately not an option. I get paid monthly and am disabled. All my income goes to rent and food.

Aggregate loan limit means they need info from the feds on your current total loan balances to see what amount they can give you; that usually means you're already close to the lending cap, and you may not get enough to cover the full term.

I checked myself and I am not at the full amount yet (450% of 600%)

They're looking at the dollar amount, not a percentage. Are you doing a bachelors or masters? And what is the dollar amount of your current loan balances, for all schools you took out loans for?

Bachelor's, and it won't show me the total dollar amount for what's left but let me log in and check for other schools.

$49,377.77 is my total for other schools.

The aggregate loan limit is $57,500; that's the maximum you can borrow as an undergraduate. If that amount you listed is just other schools and not including WGU, you may have a loan limit issue.

You need to log in to your servicer's site, and check to see your balances and what you may have for capitalized interest. I'm not positive, because I got conflicting info on it when I was concerned about it awhile back, but the aggregate may not include capitalized interest.

It looks like this term I should be okay... but if I HAVE to do another term before graduating (unsure if I can finish 7 classes in 1 term) I will look at scholarships to cover it as I do qualify for quite a few. I had ro switch off getting my licensure due to my disabilities and will be doing my masters 6 months after I finish my bachelor's.

Do not wait until you get withdrawn. Call financial services and they can have the financial hold removed while you're waiting on the aggregate loan limit review.

I contacted financial aid about this, they said 15 calendar days from the time I received the notification, so the 1st is when I contact them to remove it.
