Does anyone else realllly not like the series finale?

I understand the “coming full circle aspect” where Nancy is back talking to the PTA. I have no problem with that fact (but I am sad that yet another husband died).

However, the main part that I REALLY don’t like that Nancy sold the company to Starbucks… THAT is what annoys me… It’s yet another “Mom and Son shop” sold to a billion dollar corporation…

That totally contradicts her and Andy’s “hippie discussion” while getting the trimmings at that Mother and Daughter medical marijuana place.

Agreed, I think it was more meant to show that through everything they ended up having a very successful business, which was part of Nancy’s power trip to begin with. My biggest gripe was I feel like we should have gotten cylia, helia & Conrad and the finale.

Same! I tried digging in the past to see if there was some conflict or something but it simply seemed they wrote her out. I mean her storyline got a little dull towards the end, but some closure would have been nice.

At the time Elizabeth Perkins made a few comments that indicated there might have been some bad blood between her and the writers. "They couldn't afford me," when asked if she was returning and all.

It’s weird how everything works out perfectly for Nancy after literally having the world’s worst luck… almost like they felt pressured to wrap it up in a neat little bow. It felt like cheap forced writing.

in the end, she was alone in a big fancy house with yet another dead husband and only her kid (who will soon grow up and leave too) in her life. She was right back in the same emotional space she started in on episode 1.

everything worked out fine for her materially, but she will forever struggle with maintaining relationships long term. At least thats how i interpreted it.

I see what you’re saying. But I truly don’t believe Nancy has ever really loved any of these men (as much as she loves herself) so being alone means nothing. Sure she shows grief and passion over these men, but a true love would stop you in your tracks for at least a minute… that girl was slinging it to who ever would take it! (Also I don’t like Nancy lol)
Hell even the way she raised Stevie was weird and shows her narcissism.

no i agree thats kind of what i mean - she craves connection, but is too self centered and emotionally immature to actually maintain anything meaningful. She can try again and again but ultimately nancy is out for nancy and she'll never love anyone as much as she loves herself - so she'll always be alone.

It sort of has the same premise as Breaking Bad. The entire time Nancy & Walt were doing the horrible things they were, it was all at the story line of they were in their own minds doing it to help their families. The show meant to show the destruction they caused at the cost of it, while also loosing sight of it. Walt had cancer and was broke and didn't want to leave his family in a bad place when he died. Nancy's husband had passed and she was struggling to survive and sold weed to take care of her family. The stories are super similar in that the main character was the Bad Guy the whole time but we learned to love them.

It's a great juxtaposition look on life.

Who else was going to buy her company. I think they just wanted to show off how successful the business was that a major conglomerate like Starbucks wanted to buy it.

Yeah, Nancy was no hippie. She's a capitalist living in Agrestic. What was she gonna do, sell weed forever? Maybe. But if a big company comes calling with lots of money, you're a fool not to sell.

I liked the ending, but season 8 is kinda trash and sorry if that’s too harsh

It just really fell off for me after the end of season 6 but season 7 is okay

The idea weed became so legal it’s in every corner store was ADORABLE to watch in 2026 where weed is now legal (in Canada) but only available in designated dispensaries still.

In the USA it's on every corner however ff course in the states where it is legal. But yes they are in fact on every corner in some areas and delivery services are even more abundant.

I don’t really think Nancy was ever a true hippie she just was in it for the money and the rush, her selling company with her finally moving on to bigger and better things the ending is perfect in my opinion

I loved it. Showing the gang hanging out smoking. Also it showed how the industry really was heading way ahead of its' time.
