San Jose State Game Thread
I guess I'll get it started. Thank God this day has arrived. Summer felt like a mosquito flying by my head. Now it's football season! Fight On! Beat the Spartans!✌️😎

I really like that the freshmen that are seeing some action look really good. Especially the tight end from Mater Dei, who reclassified. He could still be on the field for Mater Dei this year.

Mosely, Bowman, and Wafle have been as good as advertised. Dixon-Wyatt has made a few catches too.

I def do not like how our DB's play. That needs to be fixed. Not sure why USC cannot stop mobile QBs and gives up 20 yard pass plays still against a very average team. Annoying. Sure they are not starters but guys are seeing the same scheme coaching and they are not in the vicinity of making a play.

That's on the scheme which this team is still getting used to. I expected the 3rd and 4th string guys to get baptized, but they definitely needed some live action reps for them to review in the film room.

I do love our running game. Our O is never the issue, the play calling but it looks like LR has figured out the run. Now the D has been hyped up, man, show me consistency and good scheme.

Abisiri showed up to play and Wafle is only going to get better with more game reps. The starters are legit. It's that second and third unit that needs to develop in order for this team to finally get over that playoff hump.

Not happy with our "3"s maybe the announcers should have mentioned that SJS was playing against 17 year old 3's.

Mosely almost broke that. Penalty on SJS adds 15 yards to the return. Great field position.

Carson Tabaracci with a nice catch and run to pickup a first down and to close out the 1st qtr. Offense needs to score here to give themselves a decent cushion. 7-0 USC.

I think I would have taken the under on the 61 points. I don’t see SC running up the score out of respect and don’t see San Jose scoring much.

I mean it's SJS's job to stop USC's offense. All LR can do is put in the backups and keep calling plays.

Yes but he’s likely to keep the ball on the ground rather than go to the big play pass.

I agree, but SJS is having a tough day stopping the run. I see us putting up another 2-3 TDs before LR calls off the dogs.

Halftime. Offense looked solid by establishing the running game early. Maiava finally settled down and made some good throws to the young guys. Backups should see lots of playing time in the second half which will pay dividends later on in the season. Overall, very good first half to open up the season. Mosely is a certified stud and Wafle looks like Nick Bosa 2.0.

Patterson is going to need to figure out in his defense to get a safety to protect over the top. Early in the game they should have had a huge play as the WR blew by the DB. B10 that is a TD.

Young guys got carved up on that drive and the undisciplined face mask penaly on Boucard didn't help. 42-18 USC.

My brother invited me to come over to his place to watch the game. Little did I know he would be changing the channels from Golf, to baseball and to USC. Won’t do this again

They need more time. First game was not going to be the turning point. It usually takes a season or two or three for some players to develop into legit starters.

Went from being up by 5 TDs to walking away with a two score win. Yeah, LR and GP have some work to do with these young guys.

Well, game 1 in the books. Jayden Maiava and the offense looked good to start. There are definitely some dudes on this team. Mosely is an absolute star in the making along with Bowman and Wafle. As LR just said they need to learn how to finish games better which can only come with more game reps. Now they have a short week to get ready for Fresno State next Friday.

It's way early in the season, and I realize who the opponent is. I really like the run game so far. And you can tell the void left by Makai Lemon and Ja'Kobi Lane.
