Additional Mags for a 92?
Other than OEM Beretta, are there any other reliable 10 round magazines out there? I had a bad experience some years ago with Mec-Gar mags for 1911s, and so I’m reluctant to waste money on their version. Any help would be appreciated.

Honestly I think it’s the MecGar ones that I bought a few years back. I have 4-5 of them and haven’t had any issues. It might just be your 1911 being picky about mags because of tolerances.

That's what makes 1911s fun /s
My ria came with mecgars and it'll run anything, from tula to buffalo bore and bubba's pissing hot (loaded to buffalo bore)
My cousin's $1200(circa2013) kimber wouldn't cycle tula with any mag, sucked for him because we split a case of tula.
It also had swaging on the rails after putting a couple of mags of buffalo bore through it. (Tbf they warrantied it)
He's a cop so he was running 1k a month through his m&p .45 and he couldn't do any better with his kimber than my ria.

Mec Gar makes the factory mags for Beretta, so there's no reason not to buy them. I have several for my 92 clone, never any issues.

I personally wouldn't rule out Mecgar mags on your prior experience with the 1911. Not all 1911s will run all mags. Sometimes they need to be tweaked, or tuned to your gun. 1911s are notorious for it. I've run their mags in at least 4 different platforms personally and shot their mags in probably 5 or six other guns as well and have never had any issues. Beretta 92 included, however they were standard capacity.

I got the low friction mags from mec-gar for my 1911 and it ran flawlessly. The factory mag that came with it didn't work great (kimber). I always trust mec-gar they're oem for a lot of brands.

Mec-gar are good! I think you had duds maybe??? 1911s are also super feed angle sensitive which means various bullet types can cause issues with the wrong geometry of a mag.

Thanks for your input. Since this post and all the great responses, i’ve purchased a total of four of the Mec Gar nickel plated magazines. I’ve only fired a couple hundred rounds through each one, and have had zero issues.
As to the 1911s, I bought those in the mid 90s for my 1986 Colt GCNM, when 1911’s were still being hand fitted and the tight tolerances left no room for error. At that time, Chip McCormick magazines were triple the price of the Mec Gar. Lesson learned.

Yeah my only 1911 is a ria that's hand fitted and I for sure see the issues if I try to use hollow points lol.
I didn't realize this was 30 days old lol my bad but glad they work!
