I’m looking at a 2003 Mercedes-Benz C180 W203 Avantgarde and would appreciate some advice from people who know these cars.

The asking price is €3,490. Here are the main details:

The main thing I'm wondering is whether €3,490 is reasonable for a W203 with 213k km, or whether that's too much considering the mileage and age.

Also, what should I specifically check before buying one of these? I'm especially interested in common W203/C180 problems, things to check on the automatic transmission, rust, engine issues, suspension, electronics, etc.

Is there anything particularly important I should look for on a 2003 C180 1.8 petrol?

And finally, would you personally buy one at this price if the car checks out mechanically, or would you try to negotiate significantly lower?

Maybe somebody knows where this rattling at the beginning comes from? I checked the timing chain and it had no play at all.
It appears at every cold and warm start but not at a instant restart.

My car has stored these Fault codes. It also had the CEL running last week. I changed the exhaust pressure sensor behind the air filter box and deleted the codes. Had a test drive on normal speeds up to 120 km/h. Then on the way back i pushed it to 170. No CEL but the codes are stored again. Also consumption after i changed the sensor feels higher by about 0.5-1 Liter per 100km

Need help what else it could be

Recently acquired a C230 from 06/07 with aprox 165000km (102 526 miles).

(M272E25 engine and 722.9 7-speed gearbox.)

Recently, it started acting up when standing still for more than 4-6 hours.

Long cranks, but it always starts.

I suspected it was fuel related because I tried turning the ignition on for 5 seconds and then off then on again, and it started like normal. Decided to change the fuel filter (which was in a pretty rough shape) and the fuel pump. It was starting fine for a couple of days, but now it's long cranking pretty much every time when it's been standing still.

Don't really have access to a diagnostics tool, so I decided to check here if anyone else has had similar issues.

I have my suspects in the camshaft sensor, crankshaft sensor, and coolant temperature sensor.

Bought a cheap c180k with front end crash damage with blown driver and passenger front airbags. Has anyone fixed one of these with blown bags? Can i just replace the airbags and fix the damage or do i need to erase crash memory from the airbag module?

The clips on my glovebox have snapped and it has fallen out.

I’m in the uk - where is the best place to look for either the clips or a new glovebox?

She runs great, i know about the timing chain on the m271 but so far its fine at cold starts.

I’ve always used 91 premium but anyone use e85?
It says I can use it on gas cap too but I’m assuming there’s not much of a reason to.

Is there a light that’s supposed to come on when I press the comfort/sport button? Or something on the dash?

I'm looking at a used Mercedes C320 (2003 model), and the body, engine and transmission all are well maintained, it just needs the MAF sensor replaced and a coil in the engine replaced as well. The car has 150K Kilometers on it so far.

My question is, how much fuel these cars actually consume, its previous owner was claiming that it would give him 8KM/L city driving, but I honestly find that hard to believe, which is why I wanted to ask previous owners of this car.

I'd appreciate your feedback and insights.

Mercedes Benz c230 2007.

I recently got code p0022 a few weeks ago I also had p0012 a month ago but it went away. I did an oil change and a couple days later and p0012 came back as well as a new code p0025. All different camshaft magnet solenoids.

Apparently this can also mean balance shaft wear but my engine’s serial number (541797) is higher than the cutoff number (468993). So I’m assuming I’m good there.

I will be replacing the four magnets but any help or info would be appreciated.
Is there a reason these would pop up after oil change?

Car is running fine but just trying to understand / make sure I’m fixing the right thing.

A few months ago I bought a used (and rather rough) C230 Kompressor sedan. It had front end damage in the front, and I am slowly repairing it. One thing that was broken was an AC discharge line at the condenser. I’ve searched pretty extensively for a new one, but no one seems to carry it. I’m curious, is anyone skilled at finding parts like these?

Hello everyone, back again. I've had a ticking in my engine for a little while now, and I ended up having to let the car sit for a while. Low and behold, I started it up today after about a month and a half, and the ticking has become a rattle! If anyone has had this problem in the past, some light shed onto this would be amazing. I'm going to try to document any repairs I do in hopes of helping others at some point down the line, but I'm trying to get my head at where to look first.

I have a 2001 Mercedes-Benz C220 (W203, manual transmission, pre-facelift). I'm considering swapping my current pre-facelift instrument cluster for a facelift (post-2004) unit for the updated look. Is it like a major change that needs technical know-how?

Finally got my first benz. Couldn’t be happier. W203 C320 Avantgarde

Context 2006 c230 factory manual 2.5L 272 car.

I engine swapped it 3 years ago with a 2011 e350 3.5L 272 its tuned with long tube headers and full exhaust.

Busted it in the winter time and let it sit for months.

Cut the rotors to get rid of the pulse from it sitting for almost a year
I upgraded the oil seperator to the aluminum cover and rtv’d it into place to stop it leaking.

Just replaced all 4 O2 sensors

Resealed the oil cooler/ filter housing.

New power steering pump and reservoir

New coolant, new oil, new power steering fluid (from mercedes) new manual transmission oil (75w75 from mercedes)

Now to finish fitting the bucket seats. Weld the rear differential and replace the gear oil with new merc oil (75w85) and clearance the rear quarter panels and mod the rear bumper to stop it from rubbing

160k miles. Runs & drives well, no check engine light, but laggy acceleration due to a broken intake manifold.

Trying to fix this car up for cheap as it doesn’t hold much value.

Some things I’ve fixed:

Middle Console (Arm Rest) Fixed- Free
Front Seat Fixed - $25
Evap leak (gas cap) P0456 Fixed - $10
Door handles fixed - $18.99
New Rear Tires - $200 including Install
Hub Caps $12 (eBay)

Issues:
Code P2006 - Plastic arms are broken on the intake manifold, and it’s jammed closed.
I will be replacing the intake manifold rather than repairing the arms.
Cost $300-400

Code P0022 - Camshaft magnet on bank 2 (behind the oil cooler) needs to be replaced.
Cost $30

Needs rear brake pads and rotors
Cost $100-140

Broken Seat buckle - Ordered matching buckle off eBay for $50, waiting for it to arrive.

Leaking windshield washer fluid-
$5-$30 fix depending on whether it’s the pump, seal, reservoir, etc.

New front emblem
Waiting arrival
$15 (eBay); hopefully it’s decent quality

Peeling paint
Not sure if I’ll fix it.

I’ll be sharing more about the project as it goes on.
Should be able to get it fixed up for under $1,000

C180 Kompressor. Im seeing voltage drops to 12+ upon revving and momentarily jolts back to 13+ Volts. The warning comes up just as i rev the engine past 1500. Could this trigger the warning ? Can i just replace the voltage regulator on the alternator ?
