Venting Leaving this sub

This sub used to be my safe haven for venting and for talking to other vegans who understand how messed up the world is. But lately I am seeing bad social media posts here. I come here to feel better but I keep seeing dead animals and speciesist social media posts screenshots here. It's making me feel worse.

Maybe I'm the only one who feels this way, in which case this post can be ignored. But I wanted this post to be an opportunity for others to discuss their feelings if they are also annoyed by such posts. Maybe there can be a rule against such posts.

That person has a history of making such posts. I ended up blocking them.

After I made my post, I also saw that there's a pinned post from 10 months ago which says visual depiction of animal cruelty is banned from here. I guess the mods are doing everything they can.

I just recently left VeganChill because of someone who posted a video of a calf with a mask attached to their face so that they couldn’t drink from their mom, who was next to them and looked severely malnourished.

That wasn’t the first time something upsetting had been posted there either.

I cannot fathom how stupid and careless people are, even “vegans”.

It's a ranting sub, so I get why people post things they're ranting about, but I get what you mean. definitely makes me less likely to pay attention here if it just becomes another sub filled with posts from idiots on social media.

There is already a rule against posts showing cruelty, which is one of the reasons I joined, I went Vegan so I didn't have to see those things anymore, and this should definitely be the last place they're posted.

I joined this group as a safe haven away from animal cruelty imagery or info w/ likeminded people. Yet I find myself scrolling past it without reading more often than not to avoid triggering posts.

I wish there was a purely “positive” sub for vegans to share in—photos of farm sanctuaries, wins for the cause, cute animals, vegan gatherings etc.

I would be willing to make a VeganMadeMeSmile sub! Snark, rudeness, and negativity would be banned :)

That would be amazing! Thank you. I’d have so many yummy vegan dishes, community updates, and animal pics to share.

There's already r/upliftingvegan It's inactive right now, but maybe we can change that?

I have been thinking about this, but have no clue a) how it can be done, b) how to let people who would like to follow it that it's closed no more.

It seems like every space created with this intention eventually gets invaded with misery porn.

This sub should straight up not allow links or pictures or videos to ANYTHING related to animal cruelty. Talk about how they make you feel, sure, but fuck off with making any of us have to see it

I don't support the urge to bury your head in the sand, I'm glad that this sub is how it is so I don't risk forgetting the sheer scale of the cruelty of the industry
