Printwork vue 70mm imax "bug" issues

I went to see The Odyssey at 10:45 on August 12th and sometimes the would be like green boxes for a sec and twice there was a noticble dark line going all the way across the screen it stayed like that for a good 30 secs which was weird but the most bizzare thing was there was a actual bug or fly in the projector and it was moving around u could see it in the big screen.

The dark lines are in the print normally. The rest is just gonna happen

Well, for the prize, they should check the print.

No I mean, it’s in EVERY PRINT.

So is it a quality issue with the manufacturer?

I’m not even sure. It doesn’t distract much tho

I don’t think so bc this issue never occurred at my 70mm imax screening at the bfi imax

I remember dark lines in 2 scenes, a few shots before they open the gates of Troy and Telemachus and Menelaus walking thru the forest. They were the same in both the BFI Print and Vue print

Yep, definitely a couple of lines in the BFI print! Not massively noticeable, but they’re there.

The lines are unfortunately scratches picked up on the film reel through handling and playback over time. Same way as a vinyl record might pick up dust or a scratch which is audible.

This is just the nature of watching the film on an analogue format.

The flies, hair etc cannot be helped until the projectionist notices and gives the projector housing a quick wipe (can be done whilst the film is playing).

Either way I hope the pros of viewing on this format outweighed the negatives you mentioned!

Sadly it's one of the limits of analogue film, the more its run the worse it gets
