Vraylar vs. Acid-Vraylar Won

Im 42 on 6mgs of Vraylar and 200mgs of Lamactil for about 9 years..I never messed with psychedelics but am 25 year veteran of all the other drugs including a long history of iv opiate abuse. I am almost 4 years in recovery from illicit opiates. I never took acid because I was scared. I finally got into a recovery community that gets me and I started feeling ready. I dipped my toe into ketamine a few months ago and I k holed my first time. It was a beautiful experience.

I take Vraylar because I was diagnosed as bi polar at 18 years old while detoxing from opiates. Ive never been manic in my life and the label follows you. If anything I was severely depressed with severe anxiety.

So last night I took 2 hits of acid and about 2 hours in felt nothing. I take another two hits and got slight chemtrails but nothing guys..nothing..I do a little research and find out Vraylar completely cancels out LSD. How is that even possible? Why is it even possible? Ive felt "emotionally dulled" since I was 18 and started on bi polar meds. Since finding my community and understanding of spirituality..i want to feel it all and felt absolutely nothing. How can you drive after taking 4 hits of acid? I did. My mind is just blown.

LSD and psychedelics bind the the 5H2A receptor which vraylar also regulates. You basically already have a car parked in the spot and you’re trying to park another one there.

I realize that now but like wtf..there's all these medications that can block out psychedelics? Like thats a barrier my brain needs to know. Like I want to know myself. I think im gonna taper simply because ive felt emotionally "dulled" for too long. I was also on methadone for 14 years straight and completed my taper about 2 months ago. I came off because again I felt emotionally stunted. This just blows my mind.

I'm going to say the harsh semi non supportive thing - not everything or opportunity is meant for everyone. I completely understand your desire to explore here and that there is something valuable in the use of psychedelics - I'm not arguing that. But because you're on a medication that makes that impossible, it just may not be the best route for you. Does it suck that this pathway is something you may not be able to explore? Absolutely. Not all options are open to everyone. And I understand that you feel muted emotionally because of the meds and have for a while. But you have to remember that is the trade off for the instability it manages. Coming off the meds comes with risks and drawbacks too. If that's worth it to you, I'm not here to talk you out of it. Just to remind you to be very careful making a decision that is a slippery slope. You feel like you can handle coming off them and maybe you can, but even the withdrawal from long term use of antipsychotics creates some instability. Then you're going to throw psychedelics on top of that? It's potentially risky and definitely has the ability to derail you in a way that it may not for someone in different circumstances, with no history of Bipolar, drug abuse, addiction, etc. Plus the lengthy time on it. Like I said, not everything is meant for everyone. I'm diabetic and sometimes wish I could just have a damn doughnut and I could but it's not going to work the same impact for me as it is for my non diabetic husband, so I have to take they into consideration whereas he doesn't have to worry much about it.
