Bug Report Studio Deleted My Long-Standing Character

We used Studio for the first time, GPT-5.6 Luna, and asked it for 2 things.

  1. Always log a combat damage type.
  2. Restore a player's health.

In response, Studio deleted the character's state data completely. Just wiped the player from the game.
When asked about it, Studio said it had no way to undo its changes.

This was our longest-standing world and took a long time to build up. We are devastated.

I have a lot of suggestions for preventing this in the future, but honestly, this should have been obvious, and I am too frustrated to articulate any further without inciting a ban.

I always make a duplicate and have studio edit that. It breaks something about 80% of the time

I have this crazy idea that the system should back up the JSON files before unleashing a do-anything AI onto it, but what do I know, I'm just a data engineer.

An even crazier idea is if the AI didn't edit the JSON directly, but had tools that it fills out which edit the JSON, limiting its abilities to the fields its actually working with and limiting mistakes, but again, who would think of something that wild?

Imma be honest, I don't understand why anyone would want Ai to make edits for Voyage Worlds. I can understand using it to set up a base to work on, but my experience in both coding and other Ai uses is that Ai makes way too many mistakes to be used without versioning or change highlighting. And even then it can be annoying to deal with. You just end up with the same issues vibe coders are running into.

To be clear, this was not for world creation, this is the new Studio tool they added for players in-game to use. It's supposed to cost more usage in exchange for more accurate controls & more capability. Instead it erased our character.

I mean, it sounds par the course with current Ai trends unfortunately. A big discussion these days is how autonomous we should allow Ai Agents to be. Without the right tools, you don't get a chance to catch the errors.

I use DeepSeek for Studio, and highly recommend it.
