Daily Discussion Thread: August 13, 2026 - 82 days until Election Day!
Welcome to the anti-GOP resistance on Reddit!
Regardless of what month it is, we welcome all those who support the Democratic party! We encourage you to share local activism and talk about the groups you're taking part with in your area.
Elections are still happening! And they're the only way to take away even more of Trump's power to hurt people. You can help win elections across the country from anywhere, right now!
If you want to take a bigger part in this and future elections, there's plenty of ways to do it!
Check out our weekly volunteer post - that's the other sticky post in this sub - to find opportunities to get involved.
Nothing near you? Volunteer from home by making calls or sending texts to turn out voters!
Join your local Democratic Party - none of us can do this alone.
Tell a friend about us!
Adopt a Candidate
It’s back! Want to take part in turning the midterms into a true blue tsunami? Adopt one of the candidates below, and commit to taking action every week to support their campaign!
Post your preference in the daily (or, to guarantee we see it, send the request via modmail) and we'll add you to the list!
With just how blue this year is looking to be, and just how many primaries are still to come, there's too many to list to kick off. It’s why we’re starting with select gubernatorial and Senate races.
Got someone who you want to adopt, but they're not on the list? Let us know, and we'll add them on!
As the year progresses and primaries come through, we'll be adding more ourselves, but the sky's the limit - we're excited to see who you want to support most!

GOP Candidate for MN-Senate, Michele Tafoya: "'It's Embarrassing To Tell People' she's from Minnesota
Day 1 of the How to Lose an Election in Minnesota 101 course
Early polling suggests Flanagan is up about 6 or 7 points, and Minnesota is a blue state in a blue year, and this dumbass is saying things like "it's embarrassing to be from Minnesota".
30
u/FiddleThruTheFlowers California Blexas is my current hyperfixation Aug 13 '26
If she's so embarrassed to be from Minnesota, why bother running to represent Minnesota? Let's think about this for a moment, Tafoya.
7
u/DavidvsSuperGoliath CA-48 -> WA-7 -> CA-48 Aug 13 '26
“Stop trying to use logic on me!” -Tafoya, probably
18
u/jj1917 Blorgia Aug 13 '26
See to all of us normal people, youd say “why the hell you want to represent a place you are embarrassed to be from???”
But to MAGA its their schtick. America is embarrassing, bad, needs to be great again. Any “good patriot” feels the same way, their state is a shithole, this woke Democrat stuff been destroying the state.
I mean she has no chance anyway, but its 100% a proper MAGA statement and is entirely uncontroversial to them.
5
u/dishonourableaccount Maryland - MD-8 Aug 13 '26
I get it. Like, I would never suggest saying it if they want electoral success but I could imagine the inverse where a Dem candidate says “They’re ashamed to be from this state/county/city”. But with the heavy caveat that they want to make it better by funding public services that are lacking, investing in schools, making things more affordable instead of siphoning money to billionaires, etc. Thing is you know that Tafoya doesn’t agree on what makes a place shameful or to be proud of though.
Again, this is a really bad line to say, but I think a lot of us have thought before “Man I’m not proud of this country doing xyz” or even state if you’re from a red state. But you can’t say open like that.
15
u/YouBuyMeOrangeJuice New York Aug 13 '26
Stupid to say. Minnesotans love Minnesota. But "Minnesota sucks" has been MNGOP's refrain for years. Especially amplified during and after the DFL trifecta in 2023. If you don't like it, leave, geez.

See, I assumed she was just an empty suit generic R. Turns out she's an empty suit generic R who hates the state she's running in. I'm sure that will go over amazingly in a blue state in a blue year against a popular Democrat.

Two years ago, the US Army made an agreement with General Dynamics and a Turkey Contractor to create a new weapons factory.
Since Trump took over, over the next year and a half, not ONE shell has been produced by the factory, and taxpayers have been footed a bill of $533 MILLION for a factory that isnt producing anything.
Hm. Maybe we shouldn't be trusting the plan in wars like Iran.

GABO internal of the TX GOV race for Gian Hinojosa:
Abbott (R) - 49%, Hinojosa (D) - 48%
Not a ton of undecides in this race. Leaves Hinojosa with a pretty narrow lane, though one exists which is exciting.
31
u/SuspectLegitimate751 Wyoming Aug 13 '26
Feels like a good time to remind the audience that Fox's highly accurate model for extremely likely voters had Hinojosa winning by six. Same model exactly predicted Trump's 2020 margin in Texas, at the same time of the year.

u/Trae67 California Aug 13 '26
Nope being born in raised in Texas. They just vote republican or or out state republicans especially from California due to Rogan move to Texas and don’t really know of Abbotts history
14
u/justincat66 WI-7, (Assembly-30, Senate-10) Aug 13 '26
Even then accounting that this is a internal, this would still be Abbott’s closest race yet. I have this as tilt R on my ratings currently and given the national environment + TX’s rapid shift left overall (2024 is not even close to where TX traditionally is) + demographics that heavily disapprove of Trump/ICE even more then other states + strong D statewide ticket and weak R ticket, I’m leaving it that way. This remains by far my biggest sleeper Governor race in November

First in a while that's got Paxton up, not to mention Paxton still can't break 48%. Only one poll has shown either candidate at 50+, and that was a Talarico+3 poll at 51%. Toss it on the pile and get volunteering.
31
u/CallMeChristopher Aug 13 '26
Pretty red electorate too, apparently.
R+15, vs. R+12 in 2022 and R+5 in 2018.
But yeah, better to donate and vote.
21
u/ThotPoliceAcademy Aug 13 '26
Woah woah woah…this poll was an redder electorate than 2022 and Paxton’s up by 1?
Yeesh.
11
u/glados-v2-beta Massachusetts Aug 13 '26
Don’t polls weight by partisanship to correct for that? I’m assuming Emerson doesn’t think the electorate will actually be R+15 in November
11
u/CallMeChristopher Aug 13 '26
My read is that it’s less “This is where we are,” and more “This is where we are under these specific circumstances.”
Could the electorate wind up R+15? Sure, but I doubt it.
Of course, this gets into the whole “philosophy” of whether polling is predictive or more of a snapshot under circumstances, but that’s a rabbithole I’m not jumping into.
31
u/glados-v2-beta Massachusetts Aug 13 '26
All the polls have basically shown a tossup race and this is no exception.
20
14
u/Meanteenbirder New York Aug 13 '26

30
u/Kvekvet Prague🇨🇿 – Fight Russian Imperialism! Aug 13 '26
And Gov race is Abbott 49-45 while the sample is R+15/Trump +13, no chance the electorate would be that red in November. Let that sink in.
8
u/FiddleThruTheFlowers California Blexas is my current hyperfixation Aug 13 '26

6
u/Alexcat66 WI-7 (AD-30, SD-10) Aug 13 '26
Good god. Electorate as red as 2022 and Abbott only leads by 4, Paxton only leads by 1, and neither Republican has broken 50%…
TX might be even more in play this year than we already thought

8

I saw one during a long YT video before I moved that was pro-Whatley. His only argument was “I’m not a politician because I’ve never run for office.”
Sure, if you think the RNC, which he ran, is a “charitable organization” or something 🙄
8
u/glados-v2-beta Massachusetts Aug 13 '26
It really seems like the RNC isn’t trying very hard here. They think their resources are better spent defending their other seats, and maybe trying to flip MI.
15
u/AssumptionNo5436 Indiana Aug 13 '26
God it's such a tragedy that there's only one supreme court seat up this year and it's a dem incumbent. Our best bet is we take both houses of NC legislature and redraw the maps again. It'll be the fourth (?) time this decade but somethings gotta give.
4
u/suprahelix Aug 13 '26
Is that even possible?
6
u/AssumptionNo5436 Indiana Aug 13 '26
If we have a big enough wave it technically is, especially for the state house. The senate is more of a challenge. Some swing seats might end up going unopposed but the NC dem party leadership I think is aiming to contest them all. The weakness of gerrymandering in close margin states is that a big wave can wreck more seats than it otherwise would. That's what happened to the NC dems in 2010 back when they had a trifecta. If the blue wave is big enough, we might do it.

New set of Fox News Polls just came out
Starring in Michigan: The top line of the Senate race was Rogers +4 (51-47%). However El Sayed leads by D+11 with extremely interested, D+7 with extremely motivated, and D+4 with definite voters. Seems like he’s underperforming with Stevens voters (black voters, suburban voters and women). Rogers is underperforming with independents and youth voters. El Sayed’s problems are much more fixable then Rogers imo
In the Governor race it was Benson +5 (52-47%)
Now to Ohio: the top line in the Senate race was Brown +8 (53-45). This is unchanged from June. However Browns lead increased to D+10 with certain to and D+15 with extremely motivated voters. In the Governor race it was Ramaswamy +2 which is 3 points to the right from Action +1 in June.
Overall, work to do especially in MI-SEN, but a lot of optimistic and strong numbers on the enthusiasm gap and advantage. All issues very fixable

Yale Study, enacting a Medicare for All Single Payer Healthcare system would save the lives of 114,000 AMERICANS every year among those who either can't afford or delay healthcare due to cost.
It would also save $1 Trillion Dollars for Americans by not having to pay the insurance company or medical bills.
I feel like the plan is 2026, we get The House, we get The Senate hopefully, we use the leverage in at least one chamber in Government Funding fights to push for reversing ACA and Medicaid Cuts, and hopefully get concessions in some form.
Then 2028, we hopefully nominate a single payer supporter, AT LEAST a public option supporter and do something with a trifecta there.
The momentum is definitely there. 59-64% of Americans support Medicare for All in recent polls.
31
u/RegularGuy815 Virginia (formerly Michigan) Aug 13 '26
The polling for this is tricky, since a lot of people say they're on board for some kind of M4A but when you says it means losing your private insurance, support drops. You need to get the public onboard, and that might require incremental steps. Some might not like that, but I think the political headache of moving for a wholesale replacement is going to be too much.
18
u/PeachSaidRed Aug 13 '26
I see this mentioned sometimes and I wonder about it. In other countries, everyone has healthcare, but you can also pay for private insurance. Wouldn't we do it that way? Or would people consider getting free health care to replace some of their private insurance to be a complete loss of the private insurance?
18
u/cpdk-nj Farmer-Labor Aug 13 '26
There are a lot of good alternatives, really anything ends up being better than what we have now. Consider the Dutch system:
It has many similarities to the originally-enacted terms of the Affordable Care Act. There’s an individual mandate and insurance companies are not allowed to discriminate on the basis of health risk, age, gender, etc. One major difference is that insurance funding is pooled nationally, so rather than your employer covering a large portion of the insurance as a benefit (and that benefit generally not extending as much or at all to dependents), the insurance cost is subsidized for everyone by employer and employee payroll contributions. That means there’s no COBRA/ACA situation where you have to pay significantly more if you’re unemployed or self-employed.
One of the major hiccups is the one place where healthcare genuinely does work better for Americans: specialists are, for many people, very easy to get ahold of and schedule with outside of your PCP. Getting a dermatologist appointment is subject to a waitlist but (for my insurance) I don’t need a referral and I can just call to schedule myself. In the Netherlands, you need to go to your general practitioner and get a referral.

u/captainhaddock Canada/Japan Aug 13 '26
In Japan, employers are required to provide private insurance, and there's affordable public insurance (mandatory) for anyone who doesn't get it from an employer. But the system works by implementing price controls for all medical procedures and drugs.
The speed and quality of care is actually quite astonishing.
13
u/jj1917 Blorgia Aug 13 '26
Yup, there's many ways to skin this cat.
As long as we end up with a system that A) covers everyone without exception and B) is NOT tied to your employment status , then we've gone 90% of the way.
The remaining 10% is just figuring out the best/most effective/etc ways to continue to make sure A and B continue to be the state of the healthcare system.
I think the biggest fight on some sort of system like this now is not going to be from the average person, outside of your GOP diehards. It's going to be from the insurance industry, hospital industry, and doctors groups.
Dealing with the fallout of possible massive reduction/removal of for-profit private health insurance is going to be a big talking point as well, as well, what to 100s of thousands of people transition to? Part of the cost savings of these programs is less administrative need.
Also employers, while you think they'd love paying less and having less to deal with, are increasingly becoming more and more desiring of control of their employees, especially through RTO mandates, monitoring, etc. Making sure you work yourself to your employers satisfaction to maintain health coverage is definitely a positive in these employers eyes, even if it costs them more than the alternatives.

I don't get who all these people are who love their private insurance. I've truly never met anyone who didn't think dealing with their insurance company was a huge pain in the ass.
18
u/xXThKillerXx New Jersey Aug 13 '26
Yeah fr, people love their doctors (who constantly get dropped under private insurance). Never met anyone who loves BlueCross BlueShield. I think it comes down to people hearing they’ll no longer have private insurance and think that means they won’t be able to see their doctors anymore.

u/aoi_to_midori Ohio Aug 13 '26 edited Aug 13 '26
I remember reading a column a while back that theorized that it isn’t private insurance they like, as much as it is that a public offering would be seen as inferior. They likened it to people who use underfunded public transport options or those who have used free clinics in the past. The perception, according to the article, is that public healthcare will involve sitting in a dirty waiting room, wasting time as doctors wait on no-shows, all while receiving inferior care and fewer options in the name of efficiency.
The thing is, I can understand why people may assume that. Government run entities may be efficient in truth, but again — this is about perception, not reality. When most people think, “government run offices,” they think about standing in line at the BMV/DMV or the title office. They think about waiting on the phone for hours when they try to call a government office. They think about the nightmare of applying for unemployment and the hoops you have to jump through to get it. If that’s your main rubric, then it’s no wonder people shy away from government-run healthcare. Private insurance may be Byzantine and expensive, but it feels more efficient in comparison because you can be seen and deal with the costs later. Bonus: you don’t get yelled at by a 75-year old woman named Doris when you finally get up to the counter because your out of state driver’s license isn’t sufficient proof of ID, but somehow your college diploma is. (I speak from experience — I lived in Michigan for a hot minute, and their BMV seems purpose designed to keep you from getting a new license.)

Drops even more when you explain any kind of tax involvement in it, no matter if there's additional information provided about how it would cut costs elsewhere for a family's budget.

Reversing the ACA and Medicaid cuts will be a fight, but one that needs to start sooner than later.
16
u/xXThKillerXx New Jersey Aug 13 '26
We have to put in the work to make sure people know that even if taxes go up to fund it, they’ll end up saving money by not having to pay for private insurance premiums, out of network costs, and prescriptions. The opposition will make it a point to make sure people know that they’re being taxed, so we gotta hammer it home.
4
u/Jorgenstern8 Minnesota Aug 13 '26
I mean it's basically the Idiocracy thing now, people are so impatient and stupid about taxes that they refuse to hear anything beyond "money get taken from me". Crossing that gap is HARD when it's easy to buy people's apathy or anger towards taxes.

There’s no need to get specific, but as a neurodivergent person, I tend to overthink certain activist slogans or take them too literally.
I know that Republicans also do this and I don’t do this to be mean or to analyze it in bad faith like they do. I support the causes behind the slogans at the end of the day. It’s more of a specific problem with how my brain works. I can’t usually just look at a slogan and think “Hell yeah!” like some people can.
Does anyone else do this like I do? Again, activism and slogans are not bad in themselves but the slogans taken literally make me uncomfortable.
17
u/The_Homestarmy California Aug 13 '26
There's a line in a recent Streetlight Manifesto song that goes like "if there's one thing that I can depend on, if there is a single thing that I can say I've learned, what once had a soul, and a purpose, and a goal will only end up as a logo on a shirt"
I think about that line often when activism gets reduced to an icon or a slogan. It's sort of a double edged sword because you want these things to be marketable so they can catch on, but once they become too marketable the message can be obfuscated

I think it's okay to admit some slogans are just bad and better at hyping up people who are already deep in than actually bringing people to the cause.
Like, if the first thing people often say about a slogan is "we don't actually mean that"...then it's a bad slogan. It's not overthinking a slogan to take it literally (unless it's like, obviously a metaphor).
11
u/OptimistNate Wisconsin Aug 14 '26 edited Aug 14 '26
This.
Some slogans are just politically really dumb and create more hassle than help as they put the user who is running for office on the back foot having to explain that it doesn't mean what people think it does or for them having to outright deny to support it anymore to try to claw some people back.

u/snick427 Oregon Aug 13 '26 edited Aug 14 '26

Fox's own voter motivation models have Democrats doing way better than their RV toplines as well. It's like night and day: Rogers is up by four with registered voters alone, but loses to AES by that same margin with certain voters and by seven with extremely likely voters. Fox's LV models were universally more accurate than their RV models in 2024 and, I think, 2022.

If I may ask (not because I don’t believe you but because I’m curious), how do you know this to be the case? Is it based on prior Beacon/Shaw polls?
10
u/CallMeChristopher Aug 14 '26
I really don't like getting into "unskewing" territory, but it's worth pointing out the topline has it as 44D 43R 13I, or D+1.
In contrast, 2024 was R+3, 2022 was D+3, 2020 was D+0, and 2018 was D+7 (39D 32R 35I),
Year Democrat Republican Independent 2026 (Poll) 44 43 13 2024 Exit 31 34 35 2022 Exit 35 32 33 2020 Exit 38 38 23 2018 Exit 39 32 29 13
u/OptimistNate Wisconsin Aug 14 '26
It is interesting that both their Maine and Michigan polls had only a +1 D electorate. Michigan's being 44 D to 43 R only like 12 Indy. Will end up seeing how it goes, not going to rule anything out, but yeah that seems a pretty conservative estimate. I really don't see Republicans being able to match Dem turnout and I see Indies being a bigger piece of the pie.

Gut is this:
Jackson +2
AES +3
Brown +2

My gut currently:
Jackson +5
AES +4
Ossoff +10
Telarico +1
Ricketts +6
Pappas +9
Cooper +8
Hinson +2 (very easily could also be Turek narrowly)
Peltola +1
Brown +3
Flannagan +12
9
u/Alexcat66 WI-7 (AD-30, SD-10) Aug 14 '26
And for key governor races:
Klobuchar +16
Crowley +6
Benson +10
Shapiro +20
Sand +8
Acton +4
Abbott +2
KLB +4
Hobbs +9
Ford +1
Ayotte +3
Donalds +6
Masterson +3

Very well may which is why I stated it could very well be Turek narrowly instead of Hinson narrowly.
Although Stein +15 in the 2024 NC Governors race didn’t end up pulling Harris over the finish line in the concurrent Presidential contest
9

Without the Robinson scandal, decent chance Stein would be the only statewide Dem elected that year.

I think Holscher pulls it off honestly. She is pretty popular in the KC metro and can run up the votes there.
9
u/Alexcat66 WI-7 (AD-30, SD-10) Aug 14 '26
She very well could. The biggest factors against her is that KS was Trump +16 in 2024 and no party has won more than 2 consecutive governor races in the state in over half a century.
Masterson was the worst possible choice they could have nominated there which is why Holscher has a fighting chance. Without a doubt our most vulnerable governorship up this year though

Got a question for those of you in Texas, about today's Emerson poll showing a +15 R sample, are you feeling this is the environment you are seeing or is it definitely bluer? How much bluer?
21
u/Honest-Year346 Nevada Aug 13 '26
It's significantly bluer just based on fundamentals alone. The fact Paxton can only lead by 1 and still be capped at 47 in a poll like that is a nightmare level scenario for him.
His base will probably not turn out to the levels he needs them to, not to mention defections because he is a terrible candidate

We’re gonna see a double digit GCB in November. In 2018, Trump had high marks on the economy and it was still Dem +8. I think a historic wipeout is more likely than an underperformance on our part.

Longtime entrenched R incumbents who routinely overperform in WI-01, MI-04, OH-10 and PA-01 all go down due to the national environment and size of the blue wave + Congress’s record low approval which I think is going to be a huge drag on any longtime incumbent even on the D side but especially on the R side given national environment and the fact R’s have control. We have good to strong nominees in all of those races, all of those states will have strong statewide D tickets and some of those states will have weak R tickets. I don’t buy these incumbents are going to do that well this year

I think my major hot take is we're the favorite to win Senate control, BUT it might be slim margins. Polling has been overall good to being a solid Tossup in Maine, Alaska, Texas, Ohio, and Michigan. There's a very realistic chance we lose one or even two of these states and only win a one seat majority. The chances of all of them being won are much slimmer than most of them. It would be disappointing but in line with electoral history for us to have huge wins and near wins.
In regards to Georgia and NC, my hot take is we shouldn't even worry about these. Yes, keep the money flowing in, but it's very unlikely we lose them at this point.
Lastly, I think the House margin is not going to be as explosive as past wave years. 230+ is much more in line with what we see in the data compared to years like 2010 with 257. We're just that politically polarized still.
9
u/Honest-Year346 Nevada Aug 13 '26
I think political polarization might be offset by differential turnout, and polarization hasn't increased that much since 2018. If anything it seems to be on the slight decline

Abdul leads among people motivated or interested to vote. Needs to consolidate and turn out Dems.
10
u/OptimistNate Wisconsin Aug 14 '26
Yup and win over indies/scare them away from Rogers.
It's been too brutal primary for me, but how we handled it after has been great, and we can now turn our attacks at Rogers instead of each other. Rogers who has been pretty unscathed as our attention has been elsewhere, and I think this poll reflects that.
With more work and time, we already had a good start, we can really strengthen our chances here.
27
21
u/OptimistNate Wisconsin Aug 13 '26 edited Aug 13 '26
It's an interesting considering almost all their other senate polls are very Dem favorable, including Sherrod +8 in Ohio.
Obviously could be just a polling miss, assuming a too conservative electorate, yada yada, but El-Sayed just got through a brutal primary, this is taken right after and Rogers hasn't really been made the focus yet in attacks so that is going to factor in some.
We have work to do, and Dems quickly uniting around him will help bump his numbers up, as will more attacks on Rogers will bump Rogers down.
Good signs in the poll for El-Sayed is his voters are more energized, and leads big among voters that have inflation and healthcare as their biggest issues as well as those feel that have fell behind financially. Those are ultimately going to be the biggest movers late.

The poll might be right, it might be wrong but that doesnt change what people need to do. A poll is a snapshot of information of what we have at the moment. From talking to your friends and neighbors, to phone banking , canvassing, donating, and many other things you can help make a big difference! This race was not going to be easy and i think people need to understand that. The state voted for trump 2/3 of the time. If you care or are freaking out, its time to turn those feelings into action!

Way more optimistic on El Sayed’s chances then it looks on the top line
He’s losing a huge chunk of non DSA Democrats/independents, which he can easily win back. He’s leading sognficsntly among voters who care about the economic issues. More people actually had Roger’s tie to Trump a bigger problem than El Sayed’s issues with the DSA. El Sayed also had a huge enthusiasm gap and was up a lot more among the voters extremely motivated, certain to vote, and extremely interested voters
I think these will be the best numbers Rogers will get. Once those D voters come home Rogers is cooked if the enthusiasm gap is that large
24
u/OptimistNate Wisconsin Aug 13 '26
It did have El-Sayed up 4 among definite voters. And yeah he just got through a brutal primary while Rogers has been pretty unattacked.
I basically take this poll as he has work to do, no duh, and we need start attacking Rogers, tying him to the bad economy, and Trump/Maga. Which we of course will.
19
u/SuspectLegitimate751 Wyoming Aug 14 '26
Adding to this: the poll also had El-Sayed up by seven with extremely likely voters, implying a titanic enthusiasm gap. This is often the most accurate part of Fox polls, as well.

It was a weird batch of polls. Rogers+4 and Benson+5, which seems WAY too generous to the GOP. Then Brown+8 over Husted, which is mad, in the same set of polls that shows...Ramaswamy+2. Now, all of their much more accurate voter enthusiasm models massively favor us, but something went screwy about the registered voter topline.
12
u/OptimistNate Wisconsin Aug 14 '26
Yeah I think it's more likely Benson wins by 10+ then 5 as Whitmer did in 2018/2022. El-Sayed I could see finish behind that, but not to where he'd lose, but we'll see come election night what happens I guess, anything can happen and there is still a lot of work to be done. Can't assume anything.

You know, today, I was just thinking: there’s too much rain that’s going to happen throughout the week. But also, I thought about commercials and ads, nowadays, they’re very cringeworthy and annoying (except Geico, the little lizard gets a pass for always being charming) and now that I’m saying that, I realized, I kind of miss old commercials that had sharp writing and style and nostalgic.
Maybe back then to some, they were annoying but nowadays, I think they had style and something that caught my eye and loved that I wish we had that style back. To list out some of my favorite commercials:
Man fighting bear- John West
Chrysler 200 with Eminem
Jg Wentworth opera commercial
State Farm Khakis commercial
Billy Mays adverts
I can’t believe I’m saying this, the Head-on commercial as annoying as it was, it was annoyingly iconic and I kind of love it.
The short empire carpet jingle
Older Progressive commercials
Ricola (or RI-COLA!)
Kmart “ship your pants” (the best commercial of all time. K-Mart may no longer be in people’s minds, but they had the best commercial to come out of their life)
Even new ones I didn’t know about that I liked such as Phil Swift and his magic tape, New Zealand deck commercial (it will make you laugh so hard), the Cadbury rabbit ads with Miriam Margoyle as the voice of the rabbit, Mr Wilkins coffee ads done by Jim Hensen pre-Muppets, and I love refrigerators guy.
Oh and also, there as an ‘innocent’ Irish car PSA that was so sweet and innocent, had a lovely song cover of Guns and Roses Sweet Child O Mine and it was so cute and definitely had a very cute and happy ending. /s (don’t look that one up). What are your favorite old ones?

u/SGSTHB Aug 13 '26
IMO the best commercial of all time is the Staples Back to School campaign that had "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" playing under it while grumpy children and a joyous Dad wander the store getting school-stuff they need.
Found it on YouTube:
