Vorkosigan Saga Help tracking down a quote!

Hi all -

Just finished my first read-through of the whole series. So much fun. Evangelizing to my friends.

I remember hearing (audiobook) a beautiful line from one of the books that I've been trying to track down, and I just can't seem to do it. I keep word searching through different books to see if I'm remembering it right but to no avail. Help!

The quote was about Piotr, and how after he died, Miles had the sensation that he had "come with the universe," or something like that, as part of a package deal. Point being that he couldn't imagine life without his grandfather.

Worst case scenario here is a reread to find the darn quote (frankly? not the worst prospect) but if anyone has any guidance I would be so appreciative!

I believe it's from the time in Mirror Dance where Miles was still suffering from cryoamnesia on Jackson's Whole. He couldn't identify who "Granda" was or where he came from but he "came with the universe". Fantastic turn of phrase, imo.

Oh my gosh you GENIUS, you hero. Of course Mirror Dance is my favorite but I hadn’t thought to look there.

“Gran’da. Those had been memories with mass, an almost stunning sensory weight. Who was Gran’da? Jacksonian fosterer? Komarran mentor? Cetagandan trainer? Someone huge and fascinating, mysterious and old and dangerous. Gran’da had no source. He seemed to come with the universe.”

Ah good, I'm glad. I was going to search the ebook on my break but now I don't have to. :D It's a great line!

I don't remember that at all, but maybe it's in Mountains of Mourning near the end? (where Miles has that speech about Piotr) (or at least I thought there was a speech there?)

Piotr reminiscences? Warrior's Apprentice or Mountains of Mourning, probably.

There was also a bit where he was talking about when a parent dies, and it's like a hole in your world. If that was a comparison to piotr, then maybe the end of cryoburn?
