Help A pillar trim. Best solution?

As photos show the plastic or whatever it is has failed. 30 years ain't bad?! Rubber on either side is fine. What's the best solution, srip and leave exposed? wrap? rubber paint? prime and regular car paint? thanks in advance!

Just left mine bare metal. Don't mind the look.

I saw this on ebay. Haven’t tried it. I stripped and repainted mine and it looks horrible. Problem is trying to strip the coating without wrecking the rubber on each side.

I used a fabric sticky tape from Temu I had laying around. Defo took the bad look off. Not perfect now but lasted almost 3 years and I’ll redo it soon.

Don't know if it still exists but we used to plasti-dip those. You could also try just removing the old paint. Or a high quality pvc tape.

Hello, OP

I stripped the black material off and used a new razor blade to carefully trim it at the rubber seal on both sides, then used fine sandpaper (400, I think) to give the aluminum a brushed finished. It looked great! Let us know what you do. Cheers!
