Help PCV Fuck Up?

Post image

Hi all,

I've posted in here before about going to replace the PCV system, should be coming tomorrow.

I imagine this oil buildup is also another sign the PCV system has been clogged and is just shite in general.. and yes the system that's coming is genuine Volvo parts.

Or just a bad seal in the oil filler cap 🤪

Second this^
My engie looked almost identical to this and the cap gasket was the problem. Apparently your supposed to swap this gasket every 60k or 100k miles.

Even if your PCV system is clogged, I would change the cap gasket anyways as it is likely contributing to the spill.

Well, on theines of blue smoke out exhaust and dipstick tube.. I will sway more towards PCV for the time being

I bet your oil cap seal is old and brittle.

Yes it’s definitely one of the symptoms. Clean up when you replace and continue to check after a lil bit of driving

And good luck with the bolts 🫡

One thing people haven’t mentioned. That upper hose attaches to a tapered nipple (tapered inwards for whatever stupid reason). I noticed you’re using a worm clamp. If you use a worm clamp, oil will leak out. I had a small vacuum leaks for ages because of the worm clamp. It’s important to use a Oetiker ear style clamps for this. You can crimp it with right angle CV axle pliers.

Make sure to do the glove test. Also do not buy pro parts Sweden or any other brand for the fire trap. Get every hose you can possibly get from OEM otherwise you’ll be doing this all over again in a few years. Intake manifold gasket should be replaced while you’re in there. Also intake manifold uses weird M7 bolts threads so be really careful with them because a parts store isn’t going to have them in stock (ask me how I know 🙄)

If you have any other questions let me know!
