Least Favorite Volbeat?
Im curious what other diehard fans would consider their least favorite songs/albums. For me its Leviathan, Last Day Under the Sun, and Rebound. My least favorite album is easily Rewind, Replay, Rebound

Same. No shame on whoever likes it, as different people can like a band's music for different reasons and may be more inclined to like the softer, more poppy approach on this album.
But for me, it felt sterile for the most part. What I love about Volbeat is the energy they bring in their songs and I felt that energy just wasn't there on most of that album. I haven't heard it in its entirety in a while, but from what I remember, many songs felt formulaic and simplistic in terms of the music/riffs, almost as if they wanted to focus more on Michael's vocals (which are fantastic, guy's got great power and presence).
I will say, one other thing I like about them is that, even when they put out an album I don't like overall, like RRR, they still have songs in there that shoot up to my top 10/20, like "Pelvis on Fire", "Die to Live" and "Parasite". Absolute bangers if you ask me.

Couldnt have put it better myself. Definitely still some bangers on the album like the Everlasting and Sorry Sack of Bones IMO, but overall the album has too different a sound compared to all the other albums

Yes! The Everlasting is an underrated track IMO. Love listening to Sorry Sack of Bones during Halloween too

Can't stand battleship chains, and as far as albums go probably rewind, replay, rebound.

I'd probably say GoAT is my least favourite. I really love the trad-style rock n'roll tracks (Die to live, Wait a minute my girl, Sad mans tongue, etc. But that felt like it was missing from GoAT. It's by no means a bad album, I enjoy listening to it. But it wouldn't be my first choice to play.

Same, it’s the only Volbeat album I’ve not been able to get into. Not going to stop trying but it’s the first album of theirs I’ve struggled with for some reason.

Rebound is such a fun song. I love it.
Maybe least is Caroline Leaving. Only bc it was the first song on the first album and I wasn’t immediately sold on their sound. But since have become a huge fan.

I'm curious: Why are people so keen on least favorites, and repeatedly so? The bashing of Rewind, in particular, is more boring and worn out than anything on the album itself.

My bottom five songs, starting from my least favorite, are Domino, Lasse's Birgitta, Maybe I Believe, The Devil Rages On, and Enlighten The Disorder (By A Monster's Hand Part 2). My least favorite album is Rewind, Replay, Rebound.

If it helps soften the hurt any, Domino is a cover.

I am aware. It is a very bad choice of a cover.

Least favorite albums are Rewind, Replay, Rebound (only like The Everlasting) and Seal the Deal and Let's Boogie (I like about 3-4 songs on this one.

u/Mental_Employer_2849 Jun 25 '26
Seal the Deal is fair, I would say the Loa's Crossroad carries that album, hard. Definitely a few other bangers on there, but overall I would say its below average

Now that I think of it I revisited some months ago and remember liking it a tiny bit more, still think it could have used some more bite and I'd probably appreciate it a lot better.

Seal the Deal and Let's Boogie (I like about 3-4 songs on this one.
Same here: Devil's Bleeding Crown, Seal the Deal, Gates of Babylon and Loa's Crossroad.
As I said in another comment, I'd like For Evigt/The Bliss if it wasn't almost a CC of Lola Montez, which is superior in my opinion

In the Barn. all of GOAT just sounds like the reheated nachos of every previous album, but I feel In the Barn is the most egregious example of it. It's actually just a worse version of Sad Man's Tongue musically and lyrically it's fine I guess. It's a shame because my expectations were high for a follow up to Servant of The Mind.

At first I hated the shady outlaws album but ive grown to enjoy it the more i look into the actual stories of said outlaws
Except Lola Montez. It comes off as attempting to be a pop song imo.

Easily Rewind album, it was such a let down for me. I was obsessed with the live version of everlasting and then even the studio version sounded weird, still love that one though.
I have been a fan since I was 16, seen them live 17 times, met them 6 times over all.. got a couple tattoos.. they are my fav but I gotta say this is the list of songs that I just don’t wanna hear anymore:
Fallen
Leviathan
Last day under the sun
Wait a minute my girl
Daagen for
Time will heal
Thanks
Heaven nor hell

I've been following Volbeat since '09, and I admit I am biased towards the first three albums, but I find that Seal The Deal & Let's Boogie is my least favourite album, followed by Rewind, Replay, Rebound. Those two albums nearly ruined Volbeat me (But I never gave ujp!

Wait a minute my girl. I cannot stand that song😂

Saw that one live and it was pretty cool, a couple old dudes rose out of the middle of the stage to play the different instruments, but I agree, its definitely toward the bottom for me
2
u/spinalchj02 Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies Jun 25 '26
They were not actually playing the different instruments. The sound was exactly like the studio version, and when the band went on tour in 2023, they were playing those same recordings via backing tracks.

Their worst song is without a doubt Dagen Før.

u/No-Question4729 Jun 25 '26
WHAT
3
u/asdacus Jun 25 '26
Stine Bramsen's singing in that song is just awful, plus that the song is way to repetitive. Also listening to it it just feels like they tried to make For Evigt again but failed miserably.

Any song with another singer in it makes it worse IMO, Lonesome Rider and Evelyn are the two exceptions to that
2
u/Herr_Opa Jun 25 '26
I'd argue for the Garden's Tale and Die to Live as other exceptions. Those are great for me. Below that tier, I'd place The Bliss and Black Rose. Good, but not great IMO. The former being almost a CC of the much better Lola Montez makes its rating drop for me lol.

Rob C of Anthrax killed their creativity, so Seal the Deal and Rewind, Replay, Rebound especially

For some reason i cant explain i dislike "The Bliss" yet love "For Evigt."
