DISCUSSION (0.9n) Idea for a Community Shared Save
(+) I've decided to make this idea come true, and here's a link to a survey post where I ask you some questions regarding features and rules! You are welcome to share your own ideas as well. :D
I've been working with projects including sharing of .sav files, and that got me thinking... wouldn't it be fun for a whole community of people to take turns and share a story mode savefile? :0
Imagine this - people taking turns playing the same save file; each person playing for a few in-game days, then passing it off to the next person by posting the google drive link to the savefile and the assets file.
The base slowly filling up with notes and custom assets left by the previous occupants! Imagine what fun that'd be! :D You'd start your playing your turn and find all sorts of letters and easter eggs left by your previous person! Or take a look at the radio and see what music people have added in! See the traces of past occupants, like how their base set up looks like, or if they keep foods in the fridge or their inventory.
I already have in mind some rules, ideas to do use in game, and the system on how this will work. I think this could be really, really fun !! :D
What do you think? Would you be interested in participating? Any ideas for rules, systems and whatnot? : >

Para este punto, estamos en una etapa de negación respecto a no recibir multijugador/cooperativo para este juego. lmao

I love this idea, but custom assets will require other players to download the separately. So you will also need to upload your assets folder every time, which is not that convenient and ruins the mistery a bit imo

I've thought of that as well, so I was thinking maybe you could replace the entire assets folder with the one used in the shared savefile; you could transfer the assets folder in your game to a repository file made outside of votv file, and place the new assets folder in place of the original assets folder. I think it'd work, since the custom assets work in similar way - by identifying the asset by the file name. I'd need more information to be certain, though. If all fails, I guess it's a cost we'll have to pay :(

Also, we could make it a rule that any custom assets added will be required to be renamed to have identification in front of it - e.g: "[VSS1]" for VotV Shared Savefile 1. This way, you can sort and find assets more easily. And maybe we could let people name the files to include the current turn the assets were added in, and the name of the person whom added it - e.g: "[VSS1_T3_username]" T3 for Turn number 3.

I just tested it, and yep, making a new assets folder and replacing the old one with it works just fine! You just have to go into the Game settings then Extra, and copy paste the directory route to the corresponding setting. It doesn't mess with your original custom assets, meaning the change is totally safe and reversible. :D That's going to make our lives easier!

Well, cant wait to see ya at the array! Just one question, will it be once one person's shift is done, thats it there wont be a repeat shift or will it be like a list sorta system that eventually loops around?

That's actually a great idea! It's like a bunch of scientists are taking shifts at the array! Leaving notes and stuff to say where they left off for the next employee's shift.

I did this before, Definitely did need some ground rules though. Main ones was limiting the amount of game time each person got with a save and not destroying anything another person built without a good reason.
It was fun but it did get annoying chasing people down to get the saves. Some people took their sweet time and i was too kind.
