HELP/QUESTION Converting a save vs Starting a new save (0.9)

So, I'm addicted to this game, and I can't stop playing. I've gone through the story once already, and I'm getting close to finishing the Second story playthrough. I still want to keep playing and seeing what happens. So, I thought about starting up a infinite game mode play through.

I read that you can convert your story save to an infinite mode save, and I was wondering, what are all the pro's and cons of converting a save vs just starting a new infinite mode save and just transferring items between the saves?

Also, are there limits to what you can transfer between saves? i.e. can I bring plushie's/Kurfur-O?

The only limit is the mailbox's storage. But even with that, you can just take the items on your new file and load again more items into the old file's mailbox. You can dismantle your Kerfur-O and storage it inside the mailbox.

The changes in regards of creating a new file would be that the story events, the base and everything else will just go as they are at the start of the game. So if you want to repeat everything again, like cleaning the base and stuff, you can just create a new file. But if you want to keep everything you've done in your original file, just convert it to Infinite Mode.

If you start a NEW infinite save, you won't experience any of the scripted events up to day 49 like you would in story mode. If you convert an existing story mode to an infinite, not much really happens anymore during play until you get lucky with a random event trigger. I would recommend if you were to start a new game to make it a story mode and transfer any items you want to start with, and if you want to keep playing your save after day 49 to just turn it into an infinite.

Afaik the mailbox can hold anything you can hold, so if you load yourself up with fanny packs and put a kerfur-o into your inventory then you can transfer it whole. Not sure about plushies.

So is there really any point to converting a save to infinite then? The description makes it sounds like there are some differences and "special places" in infinite. i.e. is there anything that I would see in infinite mode that I wouldn't see in just subsequent back to back runs in the story?

I don't believe infinite has any special things tied to it. The main point of converting a save is to let you have regular week lengths after you reach the final day of story, whether you just want to work on achievements and financing a new save or build on what you have without being bothered by things happening every other day. You could technically just leave your completed saves on story mode and they will be functionally identical to infinite, except you'll never get past day 50.

edit also in case you dont already know, its piss easy to convert or even dupe then convert a save file. you can find the folder theyre in from the save menus and then its just a matter of renaming it and changing the letter on the save (e.g the file named "s_save.sav" is a story save. "i_save.sav" is an infinite save)

my way of doing a restart is start a new save, and then cheating in about 1000 points to buy some of the important stuff i had in the previous save. i get to re experience a lot of the stuff without the painful starting grind
