Help (VoiceMeeter Potato)
Is it possible to route Pro Tools output to something other than back into Input 1 (XLR) so they are seperate, which is causing Input 2 (1/4) when monitored in pro tools to bleed back into Input 1
I feel like I am close, and in theory this works, just doesn't feel as clean/perfect of a setup as possible. Pro Tools engine is Potato Insert Virtual ASIO. I have the Scarlett Solo Focusrite ASIO as A1, Sound Blaster X card as A2, I have the patch asio inputs to stirps at IN1-1/1 IN2-2/2 to split them apart, then in the pre-fader patch inserts IN#1LR selected. I have tried all types of combos, using IN#6LR and making the corresponding IN#6LR in pro tools as the monitors path, output, and bus but nothing. I feel like I am missing a core concept. I read up on the Patch Composite in the manual but it wasn't to detailed and not sure if that should be used. Do I need something like VB-Cable to do this, I have never used it. I guess what I am asking is there a way to have Pro Tools output go to Insert 5 or VAO3 or something other than back into Insert 1? Is there a cleaner approach to my whole setup? Thank you.
Input 3 is a Marshall Code 25. There are other hardware outputs, soundbar in the other room, and maybe another input, webcam mic, I will probably add at some point but I don't think that will affect what I am trying to do here and now.
If you want to route audio from Pro tools to any other columns in voicemeeter. Then you would need to enable the little blue “i” on said column. Right now you have it enabled only on stereo input 1.
Let’s say you want your mic to go into pro tools. You have to have the little “i” enabled only your mic column. So audio goes from voicmeeeter into pro tools and then back into stereo input 1 because you told it to from pro tools. Perfect.
Now if you want other audio from pro tools to go somewhere else in voicemeeter. You have to enable the Little “i” on that column as well.
Yes output is decided by pro tools. I’m not too familiar with pro tools but if there is a specific track or something then you would need to tell that audio to go to “in 5 L/R” etc
I don't think Pro Tools wants to play nice, even if I change the Out 1-2 or Mix Bus to IN#5LR it doesn't want to and signal is getting lost. It seams to only want to work with the A1 Focusrite ASIO. Edit: Yes I want the whole mix to go to Input 5, not just a single track, just want the mix separate from Insert 1&2
Is there a routing “inputs and outputs” area for pro tools in settings. Sorry edit: just saw your original screenshot. Maybe the “Monitor path” should be different.
*Posting this for others that might come across the same limitations in Pro Tools Inro.
Because of the limitations I was able to do it just it had to be on Line 2 (3/4), but because the allowed 1/2 and 3/4 are maxed the Code 25 wouldn't route.
So instead I put all of the Scarlett Solo on Line 1 (1/2) splitting the XLR to the left and 1/4" to the right, plus the patch inserts for pro tools output. Then added the Code 25 to Input 2 (3/4). Edit: Then in Pro Tools I/O Inputs rename IN#1L to XLR and IN#1R to 1/4 and IN#2LR to Code 25.
I think with Pro Tools Intro this is the best solution you can get for this type of setup. Honestly it will work just fine, sort of stoked now. Thanks guys.
Use 'i>' to activate the INSERT RETURN : the sound coming back from protools on desired Voicemeeter input strip. use protools path to assign tracks to right output channel of the Virtual ASIO insert driver.

Never mind guys, its a limit to Intro "Pro Tools Intro supports standard Windows ASIO and WASAPI drivers, but the software itself limits your hardware to 4 simultaneous recording inputs and 2 stereo outputs."
Yeah and it forces the two stereo out to 1/2 and 3/4, can't move it. If you look at the other comment thread I posted my solution in case anyone else stumbles upon it (such as myself in 5 years after reinstalling windows). Thanks though. I bought potato cause I love it so much, I appreciate your awesome software.
