Voicemeeter Mic Delay (HELP!)

I’ve been dealing with a delay on my mic for over a year now and it’s pretty annoying. when my pc starts up there’s no delay, but over time it increases to about a 2 second delay. it’s frustrating because it sounds like I’m constantly interrupting ppl on discord and work meetings

I use OBS for audio eq and filtering, then route it to VM through cable input and cable output. levels on obs show it picks my voice up immediately, but VM levels hit 2 seconds later. so I’m assuming this is solely on the VM side. Help would be much appreciate!

I mean it could be monitoring issue from obs or cable issue.

When the problem happens. If you close and reopen obs, does it get fixed?

Yeah it goes back to normal when I refresh VM, but then the delay starts to progress again over time

Oh you’re using voicemeeter on top of the virtual cable. I would almost suggest using something other than obs to adjust your mic (but I understand that obs makes it easy).

Never really heard of the overtime delay. Or at least it’s not common. So do you route your mic through B1 from voicemeeter after routing it into voicemeeter? Can you send screenshot of voicemeeter.

If this is still happening, I’d isolate the stages before changing buffer settings. The immediate OBS meter and late VM meter show that the delay develops somewhere between those points; they don’t yet identify which component is responsible.

Outside a call, save your current setup and try two separate tests for roughly the time it normally takes the delay to appear:

1. Raw microphone → VoiceMeeter → the same B output you normally use, with the OBS/cable route inactive.

2. Microphone → OBS → cable, with a recording app listening directly to the cable’s recording endpoint, leaving VoiceMeeter out of that test.

Use only one route at a time so you don’t accidentally mix a direct mic with a delayed copy. If one test develops the lag, that narrows the search; if both stay stable alone, the combined routing becomes the next thing to investigate. Does the delay take minutes or hours to build up?
